The Audacity of Sara Grayson by Joani Elliott
Dying author wills
daughter to write her last book.
Can Sara do it?
Contemporary fiction .... 396 pages .... 5/5 stars.
(I loved this one -- the characters, the writing quotes at the top of each chapter, Sara's journey to find her own voice, and especially the heart and happy ending.)
The Runaway (Peter Ash #7) by Nick Petrie
She's pregnant & running
from her husband. Trouble erupts
when Peter tries to help.
Action/Thriller .... 379 pages .... 4/5 stars.
(This is Helene's story more than Peter's; and it's darker and more unsettling than Petrie's other six books.)
Never Fall For Your Fiancée by Virginia Heath
Lies have a way of
becoming truth when two people
pretend to be in love.
Regency romance .... 356 pages .... 3.5/5 stars.
(Humorous and cute.)
Happy Reading!

DeleteI read The Runaway last month. I really enjoyed it though you are right about it being darker. I do like the character of Peter Ash though. I imagine he's similar to Reacher, though I never read that series.
ReplyDeleteAnd your haikus, a fun touch!
Peter Ash has many similarities to Jack Reacher. They're both favorite characters of mine. And if you like this series, you'd probably enjoy the Jack Reacher series, too. Thanks for commenting! :) I'd comment back on your blog posts, but I hate Disqus.
DeleteI just loved The Audacity of Sara Grayson too! I just love your Haikus, Lark!

ReplyDeleteI hope you do, too. I really enjoyed it. :)
DeleteI can't help it...I always read these inside my head using that "ominous" movie trailer voice that we see (used to see) in movie theaters. LOL
ReplyDeleteHa! That's hilarious. I'm never going to be able to write these now without hearing that voice in my head. :D
DeleteLove the haiku.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteI like the sound of those first two!
ReplyDeleteThey're great reads. :)

DeleteI need to catch up with the Peter Ash series! I don't even know who Helene is! Wonderful reviews, Lark!
ReplyDeleteShe only shows up in this seventh book, so you haven't missed too much.
DeleteYay for 5 stars for The Audacity of Sara Grayson! I am looking forward to reading that one.
ReplyDeleteI just really enjoyed it. The characters are great, and the writing parts were interesting, and the family secrets added a little mystery. It's fun.
DeleteYes! More Haiku reviews. :) (Incidentally, I recently found out ther's something called "Haiga" as well i.e. haiku with calligraphy/ art.) The Runaway reminds me a lot of the movie Sleeping with the Enemy. But the Elliott book has a very unique premise, count me interested! ~Lex
ReplyDeleteThe Elliott book was a very fun read. And I'll have to check out some Haiga. :D
DeleteI love the haikus! Looking forward to reading Never Fall...
ReplyDeleteThere are several cute moments in that one. :)
DeleteI like these cute and short reviews. I'm glad you enjoyed these books.
ReplyDeleteMelanie @ Books of My Heart
Thanks! I have fun writing them. :)
DeleteI love your haikus. I want to do some exercises of writing very very brief mini reviews ... if only for my personal use. Because I almost always write too much.
ReplyDelete:D I don't have that problem. I tend to write too little on all my reviews.
DeleteI added the Audacity of Sara Grayson to my TBR :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it! :D
