Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme is supposed to be "Hilarious Book Titles" but I honestly couldn't come up with any, so I'm going rogue instead.
Here's my list of Ten Books with August in the Title:
The Girls of August by Anne Rivers Siddons
Snow in August by Pete Hamill
Light in August by William Faulkner
August Isle by Ali Standish
August Heat by Andrea Camilleri
The Dry Grass of August by Anna Jean Mayhew
One August Night by Victoria Hislop
The Guns of August by Barbara Tuchman
Dark August by Katie Tallo
August by Callan Wink
Happy Reading!
Who would have thought there were so many titles with August in them ? LOL I've only heard of Snow in August!
ReplyDeleteYou're better than me; I hadn't heard of ANY of these before I started putting together this post. ;)
DeleteOkay, I definitely need to look up Dark August -- I like that title!
ReplyDeleteThe blurb makes it sound really good. I want to read that one now, too. :)
DeleteBrilliant idea, Lark. I just noticed that I read five books with August in the title, including the ones by Pete Hamill, William Faulkner and Victoria Hislop, all three brilliant novels.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT this week is also a little off the way.
I should have known you would have read some of these! ;D
DeleteHahaha, yes, you are right, especially Victoria Hislop, I've read all her books because she is so fantastic. Did you know she was awarded honorary Greek citizenship for writing her books?
DeleteI didn't. But how cool is that!
DeleteIt is. And she totally deserves it. And the funny thing, now with Brexit causing them all problems, she still has a European (EU) passport. Double win.
DeleteI didn't know there were so many books with August in the title! I don't think I've read any, but I would like to read One August Night as I've enjoyed others by Victoria Hislop.
ReplyDeleteThat one does look good. I've put it on my TBR list, too. :)
DeleteThat's a great TTT topic you've there, Lark. So many books with the "August" title! I've not read any of them but I'm intrigued by Dark August and the book by Callan Wink.
ReplyDeleteWho knew there were so many titles with August in them? I think Dark August looks like a fun read; I want to read that one, too. :)
DeleteInteresting. The only one of those that I've read is the Faulkner book which is one of my favorites of his.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to know! I've mostly only read Faulkner's short stories. Someday I need to give his novels a go.
DeleteI hadn’t heard of any of these books before. It’s always neat when that happens.
ReplyDeleteMy post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-hilarious-book-titles/
Just trying to add to your TBR list. ;D
DeleteI haven't heard of any of these books but their titles are intriguing. Snow in August, that's something I would like now.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I would like a little snow in August, too. :D
DeleteThe cover of One August Night is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? It sounds like a good read, too. :)
DeleteFor some reason I like it when books use months in the title. Not sure why. :) Anyway One August Night looks intriguing, and so does August Heat.
ReplyDeleteI like that these titles make for an easy TTT post. ;D
DeleteThis is such a fun topic! These are all new to me, but it's so interesting seeing all the different books with August in the title. I never realized there were so many. :D
ReplyDeleteI was surprised at how many I found, and at how different they all were. :)
DeleteIt's always fun to see how many books have a month's name in the title. There are a lot of good ones for August.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's a good variety of books this time, too, which was fun to see.
DeleteI've not read any books with August in the title. Fun Top Ten list.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteI'm impressed! I don't think I could have come up with one title off the top of my head haha.
ReplyDeleteI looked these titles up in my library's catalog.
DeleteI never think to do a post like this! To my knowledge I have never read any books with "August" in the title, nor do I have any on my Goodreads list!!! So fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I've read any books with August in the title either, because I haven't read any of these...yet. :)
DeleteLark, LOL! You at least were familiar with books with the word in the title.
DeleteI had no idea there were so many books with August in the title - and what a variety! I wonder how many other months have this many book titles.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, but I think I'm going to try and do a post for September and October titles, too. :)
DeleteHi Lark, I loved Snow in August by Pete Hamil. Read it years ago and five stars from me.
ReplyDeleteThat's good to know! It does look like a good read. :)
DeleteFirst of all, these books are new to me and second, I never knew there were so many books with August in the title.
ReplyDeleteI didn't either. But it was a fun discovery. Thanks for commenting! :)
DeleteI would never have guessed that there would be so many books with August in the title. All of these are new to me.
ReplyDeleteThey're all new to me, too. But I now really want to read Dark August. :)
DeleteGreat idea for a list! Who knew there were so many books with "August" in the title? Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I was surprised there were so many! And they look like good reads, too. :o)
DeleteGreat idea! There are so many titles with the word "August". The only book on your list that I'm familiar with is The Dry Grass of August by Anna Jean Mayhew.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten Tuesday list!
That book looks like it could be a really good read.
DeleteWe're certainly getting our fair share of August heat at the moment! I had no idea there were so many titles with August in them.
ReplyDeleteNeither did I! But I like them. :)
DeleteWho knew so many books have August in the title! Nice list!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was both fun and easy to come up with.
DeleteNice list. I haven't read any of these.
ReplyDeleteI haven't either.
DeleteI went rogue this week too. Love your choice of topic. I've only read the Faulkner but I think several of these are on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteSometimes rogue is the only way to go when you can't think up any books for that week's topic!
DeleteI just checked and I don't have any books with August in the title. I'm kind of surprised. I don't think I'd be able to find very many funny book titles either. Great substitution! :)
ReplyDeleteI went completely blank when trying to come up with a hilarious book title. This was much easier. :D
DeleteIt always amazes me how many titles have specific words in them. I guess they're buzz words. :D
ReplyDeleteI guess. I'm curious to see how many books have September in the title for next month. :)
DeleteWhat a fun twist! And I had no idea there were so many books with August in the title. These are all new to me, so thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt was surprising how many books I found with August in the title. You wouldn't think it would be that common.
DeleteYour list is giving me flashbacks to freshman English in college! We had to read Light in August, and all I can remember is how much I hated it! :) But besides that, fun list! I like your choice for a topic!
ReplyDeleteI had to read a few of Faulkner's short stories in high school and didn't love them, so I've never tried any of his novels.
DeleteYou did great with this one! Who knew there were so many books with August in the title.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how many book titles I can find with September in them for next month. ;D
DeleteSome great books with August in the title ... the Faulkner & the Tuchman book are top-notch. I think you covered all the ones I know.
ReplyDeleteThere's several of these I'd like to read someday.
DeleteI had a tough time with this one as well, Lark. I like your list. You wouldn't think there would be so many books with August in the title. I actually have a couple of these on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to find so many books with August in the title.
DeleteI had no idea so many books had August in the title. And such a great variety of genres. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog last week.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to see the wide variety of books that came up as I was making this list.
DeleteI just finished Light in August for my classics list! It's Faulkner alright... August Heat was pretty good, I thought--I like Camilleri, and I also had Guns of August on my classics club list & read it a while ago.
ReplyDeleteFun list!
You've read way more books from this list than I have! ;D
