This is the third Tracy Crosswhite mystery, and the second one that I've read, but it won't be my last. I'm really liking Tracy. In this one, she investigates a cold case from 40 years ago that turns out to be murder. I loved how all the separate threads wove together as Tracy patiently figures out the truth. It's a compelling mystery.
How to Find Your Way Home by Katy Regan
There's so much I loved about this book I don't even know where to begin! Emily's search for her homeless brother, Stephen, who was taken away when she was 12; his vow, as her big brother, to love and protect her forever; and their subsequent struggle to reconnect after twenty years was all so poignant. Regan's writing is excellent, especially the way she interweaves the past and the present. And, of course, I loved all the birds and birding in this one. It's an unexpected and lovely novel.
Happy Reading!
Lark, I've read many of the Tracy Crosswhite books. I think I might be one or two behind and also think that a new one will be out in the fall. Maybe I can catch up over the summer. I do like the character of Tracy. Had not heard of your other book, but it sounds good too.
ReplyDeleteI'm a lot behind in the Tracy Crosswhite series, but I'm looking forward to reading more of Dugoni's books. I'll have to watch for the new one.
DeleteI'm adding both of these to my "want to read" list.

ReplyDeleteThere are several more in that series that I'd like to read; now it's just a matter of finding the time. ;D
DeleteI've seen good things about Dugoni, and I have one of his books I just need to make time to listen to. I like the sound of How to Find Your Way Home especially since you mentioned it features birding!
ReplyDeleteThe birding parts of How to Find Your Way Home were very fun. And I really like Dugoni's mysteries...at least the two I've read. ;D
DeleteBoth of these sound absolutely brilliant. I hadn't heard of the Tracy Crosswhite series so will look those up.

ReplyDeleteI liked so much about that one...especially that I was never quite sure where it was going or where it would end up...but I loved the relationship between Emily and her brother.
DeleteThese seem like great recommendations. I'm especially interested in the second one.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really good read...both poignant and heartwarming all at the same time.

DeleteA book with birds and birding? Hmm.... tempting.. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love birds and birding in books. But the relationship between the two siblings was so good, too.
DeleteI'm getting more into birding ... so I'm curious about the second novel and what kind of birds are in it.
ReplyDeleteMigrating swifts that nest in England every year play a role, as do other birds. I quite enjoyed reading those parts. But the whole book is lovely. :D
DeleteI love Tracy Crosswhite and agree, I definitely recommend any of the books in the series, Lark. How to Find Your Way Home sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading the rest of Dugoni's Crosswhite mysteries. Then maybe I'll try his other series. :D
