Randomness...

I can't believe it's already August. In just a few weeks I'll be back at work...and while I like my co-workers and all the kids in my many reading groups, I've really been enjoying my summer break. And I'm sad to see it coming to an end.

July was full of fun family events and local excursions...as well as lots of days hunkering down inside where it was nice and cool. Or cooler anyway. 100+ days are not my favorite thing. And this July felt especially hot.

I did a lot of reading though, and I have a new favorite series: Tim Sullivan's DS George Cross mysteries. I read the first two books in June and July and can't wait to check out the rest. George is on the autism spectrum and great at solving puzzles and focusing on all the small but important details of a crime, but he's not good at social interactions and has to be nudged by his longsuffering partner to remember the niceties. Even when he tries, he still comes across as abrupt, condescending and rude. But I like him. I've got the third book in this fun series sitting in my library bag by my bed, which I'm excited to start reading.

Happy Reading!

  2. Che bella questa serie di libri, sembra molto interessante.
Anche qui il caldo è estenuante e io sono un' amante dell' estate
Però quest' anno devo dire che è decisamente insopportabile.

  3. Sorry your summer break is coming to an end, time flies when you're enjoying yourself, sadly. I don't think I know that new series you're reading, will look it up. Not that I need yet another series. LOL!

    1. I hate when that happens. Technology can be so frustrating sometimes.

  10. George sounds like Monk (are you familiar with the books/TV show?)! I hope you continue to enjoy the series!

    1. I loved Monk! It was a very fun TV show. And this is similar, though George isn't as OCD as Monk was; and he's still a detective...one with the highest conviction rate.

    2. I don't think anyone is as OCD as Monk, LOL!

  14. Lark, enjoy the rest of your summer. As you say, fall and the school year is coming soon. Several others have recommended that Tim Sullivan series. Sounds good to me and I suspect I will try it at some point. Have a good week! Stay cool - if you can!

  16. Kind of sounds like Doc Martin but with mysteries. I'll look these up! I can't believe the year is more than half over. I wish we were further along in summer, though because I'm not a fan of the heat. I'm already eager for fall, haha! :)

  18. I've never heard of these books. I might have to check them out.

I feel you! I'm more than ready for the 100+ temperatures to go away, but it will be a few months still for us. Fall in Utah is my favorite. Enjoy it for me when it comes!
