I can't believe it's already August. In just a few weeks I'll be back at work...and while I like my co-workers and all the kids in my many reading groups, I've really been enjoying my summer break. And I'm sad to see it coming to an end.
July was full of fun family events and local excursions...as well as lots of days hunkering down inside where it was nice and cool. Or cooler anyway. 100+ days are not my favorite thing. And this July felt especially hot.
I did a lot of reading though, and I have a new favorite series: Tim Sullivan's DS George Cross mysteries. I read the first two books in June and July and can't wait to check out the rest. George is on the autism spectrum and great at solving puzzles and focusing on all the small but important details of a crime, but he's not good at social interactions and has to be nudged by his longsuffering partner to remember the niceties. Even when he tries, he still comes across as abrupt, condescending and rude. But I like him. I've got the third book in this fun series sitting in my library bag by my bed, which I'm excited to start reading.
Happy Reading!

Sounds like an interesting series. I'll look out for it. Thanks! It has been *quite* the summer hasn't it!
ReplyDeleteThey're really good mysteries. And this summer has been one of a kind.
DeleteChe bella questa serie di libri, sembra molto interessante.
ReplyDeleteAnche qui il caldo è estenuante e io sono un' amante dell' estate
Però quest' anno devo dire che è decisamente insopportabile.
Sorry your summer break is coming to an end, time flies when you're enjoying yourself, sadly. I don't think I know that new series you're reading, will look it up. Not that I need yet another series. LOL!
ReplyDeleteOnce you start this series, you'll want to read the rest. Consider yourself warned. ;D
DeleteIt has been extra hot this summer, seems like everyone feels that way. Enjoy your last few weeks of freedom😁
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D We have another week of 100+ temps coming our way here in Utah. I'm not looking forward to it.
DeleteGlad you like this series and available on libby so borrowed my copy of The Dentist
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! I think George is a great character, and I'm really liking these books.
DeleteThe summer is flying right by and the weather has been wild this year. It sounds like a good series, I hope you continue to enjoy it!
ReplyDelete:D Thanks!
DeleteGoogle is acting funny and it's making me comment as anonymous. https://bookwormnai.wordpress.com/ Bookworm
ReplyDeleteI hate when that happens. Technology can be so frustrating sometimes.
DeleteI can't believe it's August already! I don't want summer to end so soon! This series looks good -- I'll look for it at the library!
ReplyDeleteI'm not ready for summer to end either! I'd like another 6 weeks of it at least. ;D
DeleteI have the George Cross series on my "want to read" list and am looking forward to getting to it later this year.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll really like these books. :D
DeleteGeorge sounds like Monk (are you familiar with the books/TV show?)! I hope you continue to enjoy the series!
ReplyDeleteI loved Monk! It was a very fun TV show. And this is similar, though George isn't as OCD as Monk was; and he's still a detective...one with the highest conviction rate.
DeleteI don't think anyone is as OCD as Monk, LOL!
DeleteI haven't read that author. I can't believe it's August already either.
ReplyDeleteWhere did July go? I feel like I blinked and missed it. ;D
DeleteThat does sound like it could be an interesting series! I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good!
DeleteIt's hard to believe it's already August. This year is flying by! This sounds like a great series. I just added the first book to my wishlist. :D
ReplyDeleteLark, enjoy the rest of your summer. As you say, fall and the school year is coming soon. Several others have recommended that Tim Sullivan series. Sounds good to me and I suspect I will try it at some point. Have a good week! Stay cool - if you can!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this series but it sounds really interesting. This year seems to be going exceptionally fast. I can't believe it's already August. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteKind of sounds like Doc Martin but with mysteries. I'll look these up! I can't believe the year is more than half over. I wish we were further along in summer, though because I'm not a fan of the heat. I'm already eager for fall, haha! :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your few last weeks of summer freedom! But 100+ is way too hot to be anywhere outside ....
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of these books. I might have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteI feel you! I'm more than ready for the 100+ temperatures to go away, but it will be a few months still for us. Fall in Utah is my favorite. Enjoy it for me when it comes!
I only have a few days left. NOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your summer! The heat is unbearable. I love when a new series is discovered - that is the best! Wishing you a lovely rest of the week!
