A View Most Glorious by Regina Scott

Historical fiction .... 358 pages .... 3.5/5 stars.
(Not quite as good as Scott's previous two novels, A Distance Too Grand and Nothing Short of Wondrous, but I did really like Nathan Hardee, Cora's mountaineering guide.)




Shadows of the Dead by Spencer Kope


One woman saved with
seven more to find, and a
killer to be caught.


Mystery .... 372 pages .... 4.5/5 stars.
(Magnus 'Steps' Craig, with his special tracking ability, is a very fun and interesting character. This third book in the series is as good as the first, Collecting the Dead.)

    I've read the previous two 'Steps' Craig books and loved them. This one is still on my TBR. He's an interesting character, isn't he?

    I've been eyeing A View Most Glorious. I'm glad you were still able to enjoy it even though it wasn't as good as the previous two.

    Mt. Rainier is about sixty miles north from here: interesting that they'd write a book about it! after the eruption of St. Helens, some of us geologists keep an uneasy eye on it, lol...

      It's such a good series! And 'Steps', the main character, is so great. Be sure to start with the first one, Collecting the Dead.

    Your Haiku reviews are terrific. I love how you can describe these books in so few words. As an avid camper, I think I'll pass on Cold Heart Creek. It might scare me too much! LOL.

    Like your Haikus. The Mt. Rainier climbing makes me most curious. Such an interesting mountain to see from Seattle.

    I always seem to come here when you have just done some Haiku Reviews, which I love. I cannot even do a capsule review in three sentences, much less 17 syllables. All of these are very well done.

      Thank you! It can be a challenge sometimes to get the syllable count down...and sometimes I don't even try...but I always have fun writing them. :)

    Too bad A VIEW MOST GLORIOUS isn't as good as the first two books. Oh well. I've enjoyed the series a lot, so I'm sure I'll like it too.
