Happy New Year!

Isn't that a great quote? It makes me think about what goals and dreams I'd like to accomplish in my life. I like to dream big! For instance, someday I'd love to win the lottery, buy my own beach house, adopt a rescue dog, write a book, get married, go birding on High Island during spring migration, travel to Morocco, and see the Moai on Easter Island.

But my actual goals for 2022 are much smaller, which means they're not quite as exciting as that dream beach house or that exotic trip around the world, but they are a little more attainable. And that's the whole point of setting goals each year, isn't it? My goals for this year:

1. Be more active!
(Try a new sport like snow-shoeing or rock climbing, hike 50+ miles this year, and just have more fun.)

2. Worry less, and learn to live more fully in the moment.

3. Read the unread books sitting on my TBR shelf before buying any more.

4. Take more photos (and try to improve my digital photography skills).

5. Eat healthier.

6. And do at least one thing that scares me.

What about you? What goals are you setting this year? Got lots of reading lists and plans?
Here's hoping 2022 is a good year for all of us!

Happy New Year!

  1. I would love to win the lottery and have all those things and more. LOL I like your goals for the new year--probably ones we all would benefit from. Except maybe the rock climbing. :-) The worry less is one I especially need to work on. Good luck with your goals and have a Happy New Year!

  2. Excellent goals, Lark. But I tittered a little at number three. ;-) I need to get out and walk more, eat a little healthier... we eat well and cook everything from scratch but I think we could eat more salads. Anyway, Happy New Year to you and here's to lots more sharing of book recs in 2022.

    1. I'm looking forward to adding to my TBR list this year with all the lovely books you read and review. :D And I know what you mean about eating more salads. I need to do that, too.

  7. That Lewis quote is great, if only I can follow it. I like to have the same goals as you especially #1 as I think I'm not active enough though I wouldn't really want to go rock climbing or hiking but I like the idea of being active without feeling like I'm doing exercise.

I hope you'll meet your goals or have fun trying.

    Have a lovely new year.

  8. Lovely goals! I plan to continue my being physically active goal plus living in the moment goal, too.

Not sure I want to do anything that scares me, though...

    1. I need to work on being more present in the moment, and appreciating the good things in my life. And I tend to want to stay in my comfort zone a little too much, so pushing myself once in awhile to do something that scares me is a good thing. Have a Happy New Year! :D

    1. Hi, Ashley! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who tends to worry too much. But I'd really like to learn to live my life without feeling quite so much anxiety and stress all the time. I wish the same for you! Maybe we can both be happier and less worried this year. :D

  10. I wish I could accomplish #3. I have slowed down my acquisitions by far, but if I had to read ALL my TBR books before adding more to my shelves, it would take several years. I have um, over 500 titles in my room unread. Yikes. Here's to a better year!

    1. Yikes! That is a lot of unread books. But hey, you'll never run out of reading material! ;D I don't have nearly that many unread books on my shelves, so I'm hopeful I can read through most of them this year. At least that's the goal. Happy New Year!

  11. I love the quote. I don't really do resolutions anymore, but I hope to maintain the gains that I made in 2021 and perhaps improve on them this year. As for your dreams, I don't know about the rest but I can highly recommend High Island during spring migration and I hope you get to experience it. It is amazing!

    1. I don't like to think of them as resolutions...more like focused intentions. Because I know me, and if I don't write down my goals and intentions, I won't remember to do them. And I really hope I get to visit High Island someday!!! :D

  12. Beyond my reading goals, I'm definitely looking forward to eating better, being more active, and hopefully getting to travel a bit (COVID permitting of course).

  13. Hi Lark and Happy New Year. Your goals are exactly like mine, eat healthier, be more active, worry less and read from my TBR shelf. I also would love a beach house. But if I can manage to eat healthier and excercize in 2022 and less worry, wow, that would be something to celebrate.

  17. And happy new year to you! I like #3, and I mean to read more books I own, but there's no way I'm reading all my TBR books before I buy more!

Getting on an airplane & going someplace is still a little bit scary, but I'm determined to do it this year!

    1. I probably won't manage to read all my TBR books before reading more either, but I'm going to give it a serious try! And while I'm not ready to get on an airplane this year, I applaud those who are. Where are you thinking about going?

  18. Those are great goals! What are some things that scare you that you're considering for the last goal?

    1. Nothing super scary like skydiving...although that would be fun to do someday. But since the pandemic hit I've been holed up and hunkered down, and I think I need to do some things this year to push me out of my comfort zone...like take an art class, or sign up at this nearby boxing club to try it out...something like that.

  30. That's a wonderful quote and I totally agree with it! I hope this year is filled with a lot of fun moments for you. I don't really make resolutions but a new year is always so hopeful right? I know I'd love to spend a bit more time crafting. The last few months I haven't really been doing much of that and I'd like to dust off my craft table and just play more.
