Gentlemen and Players is one of my favorite Joanne Harris reads...right up there with The Coastliners and Blackberry Wine.
DeleteOh, that's interesting. They were also my favourites. I wasn't impressed with the last one I read, A Cat, a Hat and a Piece of String, so I abandoned her for a while. I guess I should try another one. Thanks, Lark.
DeleteI think I've that Ally Carter book in my pile and I bought it a few years back ago! Not sure if I'd read it, though. That's the problem of having too many books, huh? ;p And I love that cover of The Faculty Club. Looks so intriguing!

DeleteI absolutely love school settings in books. The only one of yours I've read is Gentlemen and Players and that's one of my all-time favourite books. I don't know why but it just got to me somehow. :-) The Lake of Dead Languages has been on my radar for years, any good?
ReplyDeleteI love school settings, too! And Gentlemen and Players is probably my favorite Joanne Harris novel. And The Lake of Dead Languages is my favorite Carol Goodman novel! I really like that one. :)

DeleteI always forget about The Lake of Dead Languages. I read that book when it was released. It was interesting!

DeleteI'm not a huge fan of YA so I tend to avoid school settings just without thinking but I see some interesting looking books and how have I not watched that Hayley Mills movie? I love her but haven't seen that one!
ReplyDeleteOh, you need to check out The Trouble With Angels! Hayley Mills is so funny in it. And not all of the books on my list are YA. At least four are adult mystery/suspense novels. :)

DeleteInteresting list! I haven't read any of these, but I know I own a copy of The Lake of Dead Languages (didn't realize it had anything to do with a school), and a friend recommended the Joanne Harris book to me recently too.

DeleteSchool settings are so fun aren't they? I did read the Carol Goodman book and I think that's the one which started me on a Goodman kick. I've really enjoyed several of her books.
