A few more non-reviews...

These are both books I really enjoyed, but just feel too lazy to try and write a more formal review for, but they're definitely worth reading... The first is a great suspense/thriller and the second is just a great book.

The Man Burned By Winter is Pete Zacharias's first Rooker Lindstrom mystery. It has the feel of a Nordic Noir thriller, which I loved. Rooker, the son of a notorious serial killer, is a great character:  flawed, hurting, smart, and determined. I liked him a lot. And this mystery? 4/5 stars.

The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbie Waxman.
I totally loved this bookish gem! It's got heart, lots of humor, delightfully quirky characters, and books!  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I gave this one 5 stars.

And I feel like I need to think of a better name for these short review posts other than 'non-reviews'. Got any suggestions?

Happy Reading!

P.S. Blogger has now sent two of MY OWN COMMENTS on my own blog to spam now. How crazy is that? So if your comment gets sent to spam, don't feel too bad; I'll find and rescue it as soon as I can.

  1. I love the sound of these two, especially the bookish one. I'm hopeless at making up names for things but 'bookish-bites' comes to mind. See? Terrible. Ignore me. I share your pain as a couple of comments on my latest post went to Spam too. And then it turned out one didn't actually exist so that wasn't weird at all...

    1. Bookish-bites isn't terrible. In fact, it's a lot better than non-reviews! :D And I hate when comments just disappear into the internet either; it's bad enough that so many go to spam!

  2. I liked The Bookish Life of Nina Hill a lot as well; not familiar with first one though.

  4. What about Haiku Reviews? They don't have to fit the criteria of haiku, but they give the impression of brevity.

  5. The Bookish Life of Nina Hill sounds so good. I love books about books. And I've had the same thing happen with a couple of my own comments on my blog. They weren't even recent comments I made. One of them was from last month, the other from last year. I don't know what's going on with Blogger lately, but it's really weird.

    1. The whole comment thing with blogger is really weird. It doesn't make sense for them to make your own comments spam. And I think you would like The Bookish Life of Nina Hill. Lots of fun, quirky characters in it...and a bookstore!

  7. Not sure what to call them either. I just found a bunch of spam in my blogger spam as well, including one of my own comments!!! I check it pretty often, but it eats them for a while, then they show up, since I had some since September! I don't understand it!

    1. It does eat them for awhile! Such a great way to describe it. And it feels so random that certain comments get spammed, and others don't.

  10. I really need to read The Bookish Life of Nina Hill! It seems that everyone loves it. I remember Blogger sending random comments to spam when I was on that platform. Now that I am on Wordpress, I actually get a ton of spam. Crazy.

  19. I like your short reviews and the longer ones too anc want to try that too, short reviews, because alot of times as you say we enjoy a good book but the prospect of having to write a detailed review is exhausting. Both of these books sound great and Rooker sounds particularly interesting. That would be very hard for a child to grow up with a serial killer as a father. My guess Rooker feels guilt even though he has done nothing wrong.

    1. Rooker does feel guilt, and some responsibility to prevent another death from this new killer. And he's also grieving another loss. He's a nicely complicated character!

Blogger is weird sometimes, isn't it? There was once a regular blogger's friend's comment was sent to the spam folder. Now I've to check through all the comments in the spam folder to ensure that I didn't remove the legit comments. Hope Blogger will fix this issue.
