So, I checked Funny Amigurumi by Emilie Penou out of the library last month because I wanted to try crocheting some of these cute animals. I managed to make two of them before I had to return the book to the library. They're not perfect by any means, but I think they turned out pretty well, especially considering it was my first attempt at crocheting either a bunny or an owl. (Although I never did figure out how to make the owl's feet.)

These two amigurumi guys turned out to be a fun summer project.
Next up? Either watercoloring or pottery. Stay tuned.

ReplyDeleteYou never know...single crochet is pretty easy to learn, and that's the basic stitch for these kinds of animals.
DeleteHow cute! I can't crochet but I think it is a lovely art/craft. I have several pieces that my late aunt, who was a wonderful crocheter, completed. I treasure them.

DeleteYay! I am glad you posted them. They are super cute! I think the problem with some of the patterns is they start the magic circle too small and you end up with the cone shape on the top of the head (that happened to me with my lion). I haven't had time to crochet recently, I miss it!
ReplyDeleteYeah, why do they start off with such small magic circles sometimes? The owl was like 4 stitches...and that did make his head a bit poky on top.
DeleteI can crochet, but it's been a long time and never anything this advanced. These look wonderful, Lark! I'd like to take an oil painting or watercolor class someday. Pottery too. Can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

ReplyDeleteMy mom crocheted me a pink pig when I was five; it had flowers on its back and I loved it. My dad was very talented when it came to both crocheting and knitting. They taught me, but I've never really been super good at either.
