DeleteI've read other books by some of these authors (Whitney Otto, Joanne Harris), but none of the ones you've included, and I'm intrigued! I've never heard of that Lisa Wingate book either, and I've definitely enjoyed her more recent books. On Bear Mountain just caught my eye too -- I want to know more about it!
ReplyDeleteI love On Bear Mountain! It's such a good story. And Drenched in Light is about a ballet dancer, which is something that always makes me want to read that book. :D

DeleteOh Green Rider. I read that on vacation a few years back and loved it!

DeleteI read The Shipping News but don't remember the plot details very well anymore. Wasn't that one kind of dark? Seems that most of her novels tend to be a little on the dark side. Love the cover of Words...that's enough to make me curious about what's on the inside now.
ReplyDeleteThere are some depressing things that happen in The Shipping News, and the setting was a little bleak at the beginning, but overall I remember Quoyle's journey being fairly hopeful and heartwarming in the end. But it's been so long since I read it I don't remember it very well either.

DeleteI remember The Lace Reader as I'd seen some readers raved about it on their blogs when it was released. And Ghostwalk sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThe Lace Reader is one of those books that you finish and immediately want to go back and read again because of that completely unexpected twist at the end!
DeleteI also plan to pick out one of these books to read and I decided to take this quiz too. It's a great way to remind ourselves of the forgotten books we loved and go back to those authors.

DeleteOh what a coincidence, I just saw Ghostwalk at an estate sale last week; I hadn't heard of it but the title + bold cover intrigued me. Didn't get it, because the length scared me off and I have no idea when I'd actually get to it, but thought I might go look for at the library.

It's funny how quickly books can go from being talked about and hyped to completely ignored and unnoticed. It's just sad when it happens to such good ones.
DeleteI read "The Shipping News" many years ago - I guess when it first came out. But I confess I've not read any of the others. In fact, I blush to say there are some on your list that I'd never even heard of. My loss, no doubt.

DeleteThis is such a great TTT idea. I've loved seeing what everybody has suggested. The only one I've read is The Shipping News, so that gives me several new books to think about!

DeleteI read a later book in The Lace Reader series and loved it and have always meant to go back and read the earlier books. Several of these are on my TBR but I need to add Ghostwalk. That looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI liked Ghostwalk. I read it way before I joined Goodreads where it doesn't get a very high rating, though I'm not sure why. And I hope you do get a chance to read The Lace Reader. That book is amazing.
