This week's theme: BOOKS ON MY SUMMER 2025 TO-READ LIST.
Which sounds easy but was actually a little hard because there are so many books I want to read this summer, how do I pick just 10? I ended up with 15 on my list. Here they are:
1. That's Not My Name by Megan Lally
2. The Big Fix by Holly James
3. Beast of the North Woods by Annelise Ryan
(Book #3 in this fun mystery series.)
4. Tide Together by Melanie Summers
5. Exposure by Ramona Emerson
(The second Rita Todacheene mystery.)
6. One Golden Summer by Carly Fortune
7. Crossing Paths by Katie Ruggle
(I've been waiting for this book to come out since 2020; here's hoping it doesn't disappoint.)
8. Disturbing the Dead by Kelley Armstrong
(The third book in her Rip Through Time series.)
9. Cold Eternity by S.A. Barnes
10. We Won't All Survive by Kate Alice Marshall
11. Black Woods Blue Sky by Eowyn Ivey
12. The Double-A Western Detective Agency by Steve Hockensmith
(Book #6 in the fun and always funny Holmes on the Range series.)
13. Fairy Tale by Stephen King
14. Rage by Linda Castillo
(Her 17th Kate Burkholder mystery.)
15. Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman

As you can see, I'm working on catching up on some series and hoping to fit in a mix of romance, mystery, science fiction and fantasy. All subject to changes in my reading mood, of course. I'm also hoping to read several of John Connolly's Charlie Parker books, a few nonfiction books, and anything else that catches my eye.

DeleteI hope that Katie Ruggle doesn't disappoint, the last one wasn't what I hoped for. I look forward to your thoughts. I've read and enjoyed Kate Alice Marshall's adult thrillers, but not her YA. This one looks good. Loved Disturbing the Dead and (as you know) I'm looking forward to Rage, too! Great list, Lark! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the new Ruggle doesn't disappoint, too. I agree, the last one wasn't as good as her previous books. And I still don't totally agree with her decision to switch her bounty-hunting sisters books into a new series after having written the first two...it's strange.
DeleteAh ha. Got your summer list. #11 is one I'd like to get to. I have read Eowyn Ivey's past books which I've liked. And I have heard good things about her new one. Will look to see what you think.

DeleteOooh... of the ones I've read, I enjoyed them all! Fairy Tale is great, and I love everything by Carley Fortune. The Rip Through Time series is just so good. Black Woods Blue Sky was puzzling and thought provoking for sure! Hope you enjoy all the books you get to this summer -- I look forward to hearing all about them!

DeleteKelley Armstrong is so prolific, it's impossible to keep up! I need to read DEATH AT A HIGHLAND WEDDING and then I'll be caught up with the Rip in Time series at least. My husband has been binge-reading the series over the last couple of months. He's caught up :) I hope you enjoy all your summer reads!

DeleteGood luck with your summer reading list!! If I make these types of reading lists, I end up going off track... I'm pretty much a mood reader and end up reading whatever captures my attention in the moment.
ReplyDeleteAllowing room for mood changes is important...this is a tentative list for me, but I'm giving myself permission to pivot and read any book I want to this summer...whether it's on a list or not. :D
