So haunting....

Doesn't this house look totally haunted? I love how broken and eerie it looks. It would make such a great setting for a scary ghost story.

This one looks pretty haunting as well:

But I think this one is my favorite. This is one I'd love to buy and fix up...even if it is haunted.

  1. These would be great pictures for covers on books where witches meet to talk to ghosts, or that last house could be sentient and magical for the other paranormals in the area. Lol

    1. I like the idea of that last house being sentient and magical! :D

  2. The third haunted house is my favorite too. I also like the atmospheric weather. Novels involving haunted houses and isolated mansions have been so popular since people began writing novels. And today if you are looking for a book involving a haunted house you have an embarrassment of riches to choose from and I couldn't be happier about this.

  3. Such wonderful houses. They all deserve to be restored to their glory.

  4. The last one is my favorite too. Just think of all the stories it could tell! :D

    1. I'd love to go through each of them and just see what they're like inside. (As long as the floors were intact, of course.) ;D

  6. All three of these houses look very haunted. My husband was just reading a book about buying older houses very cheaply and fixing them up.

    1. Lately, no houses are cheap to buy where I live. It's too bad really. I'd love to fix one up.

  7. There's that special gothicky look that some abandoned American houses have. I love it.

  8. Fun post and I agree that all three look haunted. The third one is my favorite too.

  9. All 3 of these definitely look like they might have a ghost or two in residence.

  10. Fun and timely post.

But I'm with you! Sure they're haunted, but I'd love to get one of them fixed up, numbers 1 or 3 by preference.

  12. Oooh, these are fabulous. I'm with you on the 3rd one -- those windows and turrets make me want to live in a fixed-up (and de-haunted) version of it!

    1. I'd love to own a house with a turret! (And a secret stairway or hidden room inside. ;D )

  14. Those are all great houses. It really makes me sad to see old buildings like those that are slowly disappearing as nature reclaims them. I realize that the cost of restoring and keeping up something like these is prohibitive, but I can't help but think we will regret it someday when they are all gone.

    1. I'm sad they're disappearing, too. Old houses add so much history to a neighborhood, I hate to see them torn down.

  15. Ooo, these are fantastic! Old abandoned houses are my cup of tea. I always wonder what the story is behind them, and how many ghosts are left inside.

    1. I love to wonder those kinds of things, too. It's probably why I love to read hautned house stories so much.

  17. I'm with you on house style! I've yet to make a Queen Anne style house that I don't want to move into and the more turreted the better! Can't you just imagine a reading nook in that upstairs room with all the windows - provided the ghosts are behaving of course.
