My December glad thing....

I was driving to work two weeks ago when my tire pressure sensor sounded. It's never a fun sound to hear, but it's happened before in cold weather, so I was hoping that's all it was this time. Boy I was wrong! The fact that I made it to the elementary school parking lot where I work before my tire went completely flat was a true miracle. Then my sister, who has AAA, offered to call them and come meet me to help get my tire changed. That was the second blessing of the day. After work, I headed over to Discount Tires fully expecting to have to buy a new tire. But they told me my tire was covered under my road hazard warranty--something I don't even remember purchasing--and that they would replace my tire for free. If you're counting, that's blessing number three. And I struggle with anxiety on a good day, but despite all the stress of this one, my anxiety stayed very low, which I count as another small miracle. Through it all, I felt very watched over and helped, and could see the hand of the Lord in my life. And for that I am truly grateful!

  1. I also have anxiety, so solidarity fist-bump!
I got a new car at the end of last year, and I didn't realize until too late that with this car, the tire alert means a real problem. On my very old car, the light came on with every temperature change, so I didn't worry with this light. I ruined the tire, and I did have to buy four new ones - an expensive lesson! I'm glad yours turned out better!

    1. Oh, no! That's awful that you had to replace all four tires. For me, cars are like computers...I just want them to work right all the time because I don't like figuring out how to fix things when they go wrong.

  3. A very nice post Lark and this is the way to look at life. There is a saying "gratitude is the engine of faith" and it really hit home. And we have to pay attention to the good things that happen in life and give thanks to God who is looking out for us. Have a very Merry Christmas!

    1. I love that saying! I'm going to write that one down and post it by my mirror so I can remember it. Gratitude is the engine of faith. So powerful. Being grateful and finding the glad things in life is something I've been working on this year. And it's help make a difference with my stress. I wish you a very Merry Christmas, too! :D

  6. You can add my name to the 'anxiety' group, Lark. I struggle with it, but have had times when it has been quite bad. In any case, my faith helps me during those times. I even have a playlist on my phone with songs of faith that I have listened to over and over to help me focus on God's grace and plan instead of my fears. I love the thought you shared. Glad you tire episode worked out. I'm grateful for your friendship and the sharing of thoughts that you do here, Lark. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Peace, joy and love...

    1. I love that you have a playlist of songs that helps you focus on God's help and faith. What an awesome idea! I've been trying to breathe and meditate more this year and that helps some with my anxiety, but I think listening to songs like your list would be even better. Thanks for your kind comments! And have a Merry Christmas. :D

  7. That's wonderful that it worked out so well--tires going bad are dangerous! And then for it not to be expensive, because they're expensive, too! (All from experience, sadly...)

    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

    1. Everything with cars seems to be super expensive. Makes me wish I lived in a walkable city. But I don't. And I'm grateful this experience didn't cost me anything. It was definitely a blessing. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas, too!!! :D

    1. Who knew a negative like a flat tire could end with so many positive, glad things! I guess Pollyanna was right when she taught everyone to play her glad game. :D

    1. It is SO important. I struggle with it, because negative thoughts are so much easier to find than positive ones, but it's gratitude and looking for joy that makes life better, and helps me to smile.

  10. How wonderful that everything worked out despite having a flat tire! What a pleasant surprise that you didn't even have to pay for a new tire. I love the way you looked at the situation, too, Lark. You could've been bummed about the flat, but you looked at the positives! Have a wonderful and happy holiday, Lark! :)

    1. It is hard to be grateful and positive when life throws so much of the negative our way. But looking for the good and for God in my life is what helps me when I'm struggling. And anxiety can definitely be a real struggle. It makes me even more grateful for Christmas. I hope you have the merriest of holidays!!! :D
