And I'm right in the middle of reading American Spring by Walter R. Borneman. It mostly focuses on the first six months of 1775 and the decisions and turning points that led to America's revolution. It's interesting and well-written and I'm enjoying it. I'm just not getting through it very fast. But I hope to finish it up soon, because I want to start reading Dolin's Rebels At Sea next month.
And I just started reading Janice Hallett's The Killer Question. It's an epistolary mystery set in a pub in England and is told through texts, group messages, police interviews, and emails. It's pretty amusing so far, even though I have no idea where it's headed. I do know there will be a murder. The characters are pretty funny, especially how caught up they get in the pub's weekly Monday night quiz contest. If you want to read an excellent review of it, check out Helen's review. It's what made me want to check it out myself.
So no reviews today.
Just some good books and some happy reading.

I'm glad you're enjoying The Killer Question!
ReplyDeleteI am very much enjoying it!
DeleteI just finished reading I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver and have started The Academy by ElinHilderbrand. I'm listening to Future Boy by Michael J. Fox. Happy Reading.
ReplyDeleteThe Academy is one I really want to read! I hope it's as good as it sounds. :D And thanks for commenting.
DeleteMore titles for my reading list. I particularly like the sound of "The Killer Question" so I might move that one to near the top of the list.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was different and fun. And it has some pretty funny moments, too.
DeleteMy husband and I have listened to a few of the Hurwitz books when we have been travelling. That series works for both of us and so we are slowly making our way through it. Good to know it worked for you. I've read a couple of Janice Hallett's books but not this new on as yet. I do have a copy of it. I really enjoy trying epistolary fiction and so her method of writing is fun for me. Hope it ends up being a good one!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of the Orphan X books. Evan is the best! :D
DeleteHappy reading.

:D Hi, Regine!
DeleteMaybe I should pick up The Killer Question again. I got bored after a few chapters. Probably because I loved The Appeal so much I haven't found any of the subsequent books as good. Need to give it another chance!
ReplyDeleteSometimes books work for you, and sometimes they don't. I felt like the beginning of this one was a little hard to get into because of all the characters and contest chatter...but it gets better. And I thought it was fun in the end.
DeleteYou read more than one book at a time? My mom used to do that. I could never. lol
ReplyDeleteI've been MIA after my fall but I'm trying to get back a little bit and catch up on what I missed. The whole story will be on my Sunday post, hope to see you there.
I heard about your fall and I'm so sorry...but very glad nothing was broken and you're going to be okay. And yes, I do sometimes read more than one book at a time...usually with denser nonfiction books. I find I need to break them up with a lighter, easier fiction read. :D
DeleteI checked on The Killer Question on Netgalley as that really appealed to me. Long archived.
ReplyDeleteThe Evan Smoak books are new to me, will look those up, as Kay seems to be a fan too. Had to laugh at the pub quiz thing, it features in Richard Osman's We Solve Murders too, they're quite popular in the UK. :-D
ReplyDeleteThat first one sounds great
ReplyDeleteThe Killer Question sounds so good! I love anything with epistolary content😁
