Wow, there I was struggling to even find books I've read with *any* animal on the cover, and you go and knock out 10 with just birds! Love the cover of Knight Owl. The artwork is so pretty.

DeleteYes I could do a bird one quite easily, LOL! I shall look some of these up, the only one I've read is the Patricia McKillip.
ReplyDeleteI think you would really like both Find Me and A Guide to the Birds of East Africa. Both novels are great reads for very different reasons. :D

There are so many covers and titles out there with animals on them the only way I could choose just ten was to narrow it down to one kind. And of course I had to go with birds. ;D

I love that cover, too! The book itself is a very good mystery/suspense story.
DeleteI haven't read any of those books, but I love all of the covers, particularly The Lost Spells and The Foreshadowing.

ReplyDeleteThey really do! Dogs are especially popular these days, but so are birds, and for some reason, snakes.

DeleteSuch a great list, Lark! Love the cover of A Guide to the Birds of East Africa. Off topic, I bought a bird guide for the area I've moved to and set up feeders, which I guess can be a controversial move (never knew) but I've been enjoying the local birds! Juncos, American Robins, Spotted Towhee, Red-winged Black Birds, Acorn Woodpeckers, and a few more. I know you're into birding and I wonder what you find in your neck of the woods? Anyhow, great TTT! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your Acorn Woodpeckers! We have Downy Woodpeckers and Flickers here, but not those. We also get Juncos, Towhees, Goldfinches, Song Sparrows and Chickadees. And, of course, Robins! It's been hard on the robins this spring with all the snow on the ground. And putting out bird feeders isn't a crime; it's not like a few feeders are going to hurt the wild birds or make them forget how to find food on their own. You might try some hummingbird feeders, too. They're fun, though they're a little more work to keep up. We get a lot of black-chinned hummingbirds every year, and sometimes some Rufous ones, too. Happy birding! :D
DeleteI just looked up Downy Woodpeckers and they're pretty, and I just spotted a Northern Flicker the other day. You get a nice mix! I had hummingbird feeders in Southern California, but we had hummingbirds even when I didn't. I had honeysuckle and rosemary bushes that they loved. They show up here, too, but I think it's still a little cold for them here right now. I'll have to look up those varieties. Happy birding to you, too!

DeleteGreat topic! And birds are used from so many genres from happy springy books to creepy and ominous. Knight Owl looks absolutely adorable and Bird Cottage appeals to me because I love chickadees.
