Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme: Covers With Animals On Them (or Titles With Animals in Them).
I went with BIRDS on the cover.
The first five books on this list I've both read and really liked. The last five I haven't read yet, but want to.
Still Life With Crows by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
The Bell at Sealey Head by Patricia A. McKillip
See What I Have Done by Sarah Schmidt
Bird Cottage by Eva Meijer
The Lost Spells by Robert Macfarlane
The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman
The Foreshadowing by Marcus Sedgwick
BONUS:
Knight Owl by Christopher Denise
Happy Reading!
Wow, there I was struggling to even find books I've read with *any* animal on the cover, and you go and knock out 10 with just birds! Love the cover of Knight Owl. The artwork is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Knight Owl great? I love the artwork, and the story, too. :D
DeleteYes I could do a bird one quite easily, LOL! I shall look some of these up, the only one I've read is the Patricia McKillip.
ReplyDeleteI think you would really like both Find Me and A Guide to the Birds of East Africa. Both novels are great reads for very different reasons. :D
DeleteNice one. I didn't participate this week because I did a TTT with animals before.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to do birds only.
There are so many covers and titles out there with animals on them the only way I could choose just ten was to narrow it down to one kind. And of course I had to go with birds. ;D
DeleteThat's true, there are many books with animals on the title. I'm not particular fond of animals and even I found ten. LOL
DeleteI love the cover for Find Me. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteMy post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-titles-with-aquatic-animals-in-them/
I love that cover, too! The book itself is a very good mystery/suspense story.
DeleteI haven't read any of those books, but I love all of the covers, particularly The Lost Spells and The Foreshadowing.
ReplyDeleteI love those covers, too. They make me want to read both of those books. :D
DeleteWhat an interesting collection of titles and covers! I had not actually given it any thought but animals do appear quite frequently on covers, don't they?
ReplyDeleteThey really do! Dogs are especially popular these days, but so are birds, and for some reason, snakes.
DeleteWe had a bird theme, too!
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Regine. I had fun choosing them.
DeleteI want to read Alice Hoffman, like the covers!!

I want to check out that Alice Hoffman novel, too. I've liked other books by her. Thanks for commenting. :D
DeleteLove this bird themed list. Also is Foreshadowing a new Sedwick title? Must look for it.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT list of animal titles
I think Foreshadowing was published in 2005.
DeleteI like that you went with a specific animal theme for your book covers!! I have yet to read 'See What I Have Done' by Sarah Schmidt, but it is on my reading wish list.
ReplyDeleteThe cover is great. It's now on my TBR list, too. :D
DeleteI love that you focuses on birds! I haven't read any of these yet, but I do love the cover for The Lost Spells.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that an amazing cover? I really love that one, too.
DeleteMy daughter and I just read Knight Owl for the first time yesterday. It was so cute! I love that you went with a specific animal.
ReplyDeleteIt was the only way I could figure out how to narrow down my list. :D
DeleteKnight Owl is pretty cute. Makes me read it, too!
ReplyDeleteI also want to read that Alice Hoffman.
Knight Owl is so awesome. One of my favorite picture books. :D
DeleteFun list! I haven't read any of these yet, but Find Me is on my wishlist. Love the cover of The Foreshadowing too! :)
ReplyDeleteFind Me is a great read. I loved the characters and the suspense. :D
DeleteSee What I Have Done! What a fun cover choice there. I read that book awhile back.
ReplyDeleteDid you like it? It looks really good.
DeleteBirds is a popular theme today! Nice list.
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing what people do each week...and it was fun to see so many bird covers.
DeleteOoh Time War I just saw that one at the bookstore yesterday!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun book. I think you would like it.
DeleteI like The Lost Spells cover .... love owls.
ReplyDeleteI love owls, too!
DeleteSuch a great list, Lark! Love the cover of A Guide to the Birds of East Africa. Off topic, I bought a bird guide for the area I've moved to and set up feeders, which I guess can be a controversial move (never knew) but I've been enjoying the local birds! Juncos, American Robins, Spotted Towhee, Red-winged Black Birds, Acorn Woodpeckers, and a few more. I know you're into birding and I wonder what you find in your neck of the woods? Anyhow, great TTT! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your Acorn Woodpeckers! We have Downy Woodpeckers and Flickers here, but not those. We also get Juncos, Towhees, Goldfinches, Song Sparrows and Chickadees. And, of course, Robins! It's been hard on the robins this spring with all the snow on the ground. And putting out bird feeders isn't a crime; it's not like a few feeders are going to hurt the wild birds or make them forget how to find food on their own. You might try some hummingbird feeders, too. They're fun, though they're a little more work to keep up. We get a lot of black-chinned hummingbirds every year, and sometimes some Rufous ones, too. Happy birding! :D
DeleteI just looked up Downy Woodpeckers and they're pretty, and I just spotted a Northern Flicker the other day. You get a nice mix! I had hummingbird feeders in Southern California, but we had hummingbirds even when I didn't. I had honeysuckle and rosemary bushes that they loved. They show up here, too, but I think it's still a little cold for them here right now. I'll have to look up those varieties. Happy birding to you, too!
DeleteNice!! I loved that Alice Hoffman book, and I had the Time War book on my potential list this week too (but had to give up a few to keep it to 10 books only).
ReplyDeleteIt's always hard to keep these lists to just ten books! You can see I went over ten again this week with Knight Owl, but I couldn't leave it off.
DeleteOww... such adorable covers! I always find myself attracted to book covers with birds :D
ReplyDeleteAnd the Knight Owl is the most irresistible! <3
I love birds and birding, so that's why I chose these covers this week. And Knight Owl is a darling picture book.
DeleteKnight Owl sounds so cute, I have to check it out. Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/books-with-animals/
ReplyDeleteKnight Owl is adorable! Can't wait to check out your TTT list. :D
DeleteI enjoyed checking out your list. Now I'm wondering why I didn't play along!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I don't feel inspired when I read the topic for that week's TTT...until I see what everyone else did. Then I end up wishing I'd done it, too. ;D
DeleteGreat list, Lark. I like that you picked a particular animal to narrow it down. I have not read any of these, but several of these covers definitely call to me.
ReplyDeleteI've read and really liked the first five, and want to read several of the other ones...because those covers are pretty great.
DeleteOh so many pretty bird covers! I haven't read any of these but actually do have several on my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to let me know which ones you end of reading and if they're any good!
DeleteI am crazy about Knight Owl. Lovely, lovely story.
ReplyDeleteIt's the best! I really love it, too.
DeleteGreat topic! And birds are used from so many genres from happy springy books to creepy and ominous. Knight Owl looks absolutely adorable and Bird Cottage appeals to me because I love chickadees.
ReplyDeleteI love chickadees, too! :D
DeleteGreat idea going with all birds! I had a hard time just finding 10 animals. 😃 I'm loving the covers, too!
ReplyDeleteGoing with birds made it easier for me to narrow my choices; I considered going with dogs first, but there were just too many books to choose from. ;D
DeleteBirds seem to be very popular on book covers. I've seen a lot of them this week. :)
ReplyDeleteI know they always make me pick up a book to see what it's about. ;D
DeleteI think birds are a popular choice on book covers, alongside with dogs. Great TTT post and I enjoyed reading about your choices. :)
ReplyDeleteI would've gone with dogs, but it was too hard to narrow down the choices because there are SO MANY book covers with dogs on them. :D
