  4. Oh, lovely. Like the picture and the quote. I've just finished a book set in the 1920's and that is perfect picture - looks like Lizzie Crane, the protagonist. :-)

  17. The 20th century up to about 1970 was a great time for American illustration because of magazines. All great were Virginia Frances Sterrett, Howard Pyle, Maxfield Parrish. As for "An Apology for the Life of Mr Colley Cibber" -- has anybody read that in the last 80 years?
