December's bookish art...

“Oh, magic hour, when a child first knows she can read printed words.”
― Betty Smith, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

“Stories you read when you're the right age never quite leave you. You may forget who wrote them or what the story was called. Sometimes you'll forget precisely what happened, but if a story touches you it will stay with you, haunting the places in your mind that you rarely ever visit.”
― Neil Gaiman, M Is for Magic

  5. So true. I dearly loved the Misty of Chincoteague books by Marguerite Henry, The Black Stallion books, the Nancy Drew mysteries and more. I read at a young age and guess my career, Librarian!

  14. There is such a sense of peace that can come from escaping into the pages of a book, especially in those quiet hours.
