Then there's the scary scenarios:

The one I just finished reading:

And the one I'm currently reading:

  1. I loved the Toby Wilkinson book, and I've been meaning to look for more of his. But the Donald Ryan book also looks very interesting. Did you enjoy the book about Alice Paul? I've also had it in mind to read more about the women's rights movement.

    1. I did like it, although I wish it had gone into a little more depth about her and her life. Still, it gives a good overview of Paul's involvement with the women's movement.

  2. I definitely need more non-fiction in my life. Someone else recommended A HOPE MORE POWERFUL THAN THE SEA to me. Sounds like I REALLY need to read it now :)

    1. Even though I love a good non-fiction book, I sometimes find it hard to fit one in among all the fiction I tend to read. Life's just too short! :D

  4. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Egypt book. I would love to go to Egypt one day.

    1. I really want to go to Egypt, too! It's at the top of my "Places I want to see" list. :D

    1. I used to read a lot more non-fiction than I do lately; I love learning new things and good non-fiction does that. :)

  6. I haven't read any of these though I have read two books on Anne Frank. I wasn't a fan of her diary but to be fair, the poor girl wasn't writing it for publication. My own diaries weren't very entertaining to read!

    1. I know what you mean! My diaries at that age could be used as a cure for insomnia...not that I have any of them any more. :D

  7. I loved Anne Frank's diary when I read it years ago and should try one of the biographies. I used to read nonfiction about Egypt because I enjoyed books about archaeology, but have not read anything recently. Ted Koppel's Lights Out was truly frightening--an eye-opener in many ways.

    1. Yeah, I wish everyone had to read Lights Out...'cause if that ever happens we're totally screwed.

  8. I like Lauren Graham - I don't usually read bios of current celebs, but I might read this one. Was it good? I have always loved Anne Frank's Diary since I first encountered it in 7th grade--I would love to read more about her. I visited the Annex in Amersterdam--incredibly powerful to visit. On the same trip, I visited Dachau.

I'm 3/4 done with The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder and can heartily recommend it--I know you enjoy nature and birding, and it's chock full of info on flora and fauna of the Midwest.

    1. I thought the Lauren Graham was good...it reads a lot like Lorelai Gilmore talks. :) And you're right, The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder does wound right up my alley. Thanks!
