When I decided to participate in Susan's Bookish Books Reading Challenge last January, I had a list of 20 books that I wanted to read for it. And I came really close. Out of those 20 books, I DNFed two of them, wasn't in the mood for two others, and one that I really wanted to read ended up having so many holds on it by the time I went to check it out of the library there's no way I'll get a copy of it until sometime next year. But I read the rest of them. (Drumroll, please!) Here are the 15 bookish books I read this year:
So, if you're in the mood to read a book about books, bookshops, bookstore owners, authors or libraries, I recommend any of these...but especially the ones with hearts by them, because those were my favorites. And I want to thank Susan for coming up with and hosting this very fun reading challenge. She's going to do it again next year, if you're interested in joining in.
Happy Reading!
Well done and congrats! I can't remember whether I signed up for 5 or 10 but I read 13 so it's all good. π
ReplyDelete13 is great! And I think we read some of the same books for this challenge, didn't we?
DeleteI can't count, 'twas 14 not 13. π Yes, we both read The Library and something else but I'm not sure which.
DeleteWay to go! I'm nervous to even look back at my originally planned TBR for the year. There's just too many new releases that always distract me haha
ReplyDeleteI know that problem! I'm easily distracted by new releases, too. :D
Delete15 is awesome! Congrats, Lark! This sounded like such a fun challenge. :D
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed it...but then who doesn't love reading books about bookshops, libraries and book lovers? ;D
DeleteI think I did nine total for this challenge, but I did not set a goal. Congratulations on reading 15 bookish books ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks. It's one of the few reading challenges where I didn't actually quit or give up on it halfway through the year. ;D
DeleteWell done! 15 is a great result and it sounds like you had fun with this challenge. I like bookish books but don't seem to read many of them!
ReplyDeleteThat's why this reading challenge was so perfect for me this year. I already had all of these books on my TBR list, and this challenge actually made me read them all. :D
DeleteNice job. I read a few of these, too, and enjoyed them - not that that's a big surprise because books about books and bookstores really appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! They're the best. :D
DeleteCongratulations Lark and thank you for listing these book and placing a heart next to your favorites I will check them out. I am thinking of the new year and so many different book challenges are out there. One that has me interested is the historical book club challenge which I will post about. Hope you and you family have a great Christmas!
ReplyDeleteReading challenges are fun...especially when they push you to read books you'd never otherwise read, or to finally read those books you've been meaning to read for forever. :D
DeleteThe only book on your list that I have read is "The Reading List" which I read a couple of years ago. I loved it and I see you have a heart by its title so I guess you liked it, too!
ReplyDeleteI loved that one! It was so poignant and heartwarming. :D
DeleteWhat a fun challenge and who can resist books about book! I have read a couple of these and really enjoyed them. I'm trying not to go crazy on challenges next year but I'm tempted by this one for sure! Congrats on doing so well on your challenge!
ReplyDeleteI obviously can't resist reading books about books or bookshops or libraries or writers...and the list goes on. ;D
DeleteGlad you enjoyed so many books about books this year :)
ReplyDeleteThey're some of my favorite kinds of books to read. :D
DeleteWhat a fun list! I see a few here that I've read, and a bunch of others for my TBR list. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a very fun reading challenge to do. :D
DeleteGreat job and I see so many books that are on my TBR - which is probably all your fault! Can't wait to see what you read next year!
ReplyDeleteAdding to other people's TBR lists is what blogging's all about, isn't it? ;D
DeleteI need to do up my end of the year challenges post! I read and enjoyed The Lonely Hearts Book Club and Summer Reading too! 15 books is still great even if you didn't get to 20. I aimed for a lower goal.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy because I ended up getting all 20 books off of my Goodreads list...so that was nice. And I read some very good bookish books. :D
DeleteNice! I'm glad you enjoyed this challenge so much. I've had a grand time hosting it and I'm so happy that other people have had such fun with it. I'm looking forward to another great year of reading and sharing bookish books. I've actually only read two of the titles on your list (ON SPINE OF DEATH and THE MESSY LIVES OF BOOK PEOPLE), so I'm going to come back to this post for inspo on what to read for the challenge in the new year.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd like most of these books! :D
DeleteI think you did well for the reading challenge, Lark! And who could turn down on books with a bookish theme? :D
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for bookshop and bookish books, that's for sure! :D
DeleteYou did so well with this challenge, Lark! I really liked The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams and The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks also.
ReplyDeleteI loved both of those books! This is probably one of my most favorite reading challenges that I've ever done. :D
