"The difference between the person you are now and the person you will be in five years will be determined by the people you meet and the books you read." --Ralph Waldo EmersonThis quote got me thinking about the books I'd like to read, and the people I'd like to meet this year. I want to expand my horizons, try new things, risk failing, travel to new places, read new authors, participate in new reading challenges, dream bigger dreams, and have more fun. It's a new year, after all. Anything is possible.
I also want to keep blogging about books and life...at least two posts a week. I want to read more classics--I've already chosen 12 classics I hope to read in 2014. As for reading challenges, I signed up to participate in the What's in a Name Reading Challenge hosted by wormhole.carnelianvalley.com because it sounded like fun. I'm also going to try and read more non-fiction this year. And I hope to get my TBR pile, which currently stands at 28 unread books sitting on my shelves collecting dust, down below 20. In addition to all of that, I want to make time to reread some of the books I love best. Whew! That's a lot of books! Wish me luck.
What about you? Made any bookish resolutions this year? Whatever your plans, goals, or dreams for 2014, I hope they all come true.
Have a Happy (and Bookish) New Year!
I hope you have a great 2014! Good luck with all your resolutions. I'm hoping to find time for some rereading this year too.
ReplyDeleteLast year I had to make a list of books I wanted to reread just so I'd be sure to fit them in...and I'm so glad I did. Revisiting old books reminds you of who you were then, and how much you've changed. Happy New Year!
DeleteI'm taking on 3 challenges this year: the Century of Books, my own Postal Reading Challenge, and the Canadian Book Challenge. Between the 3 I hope to read a lot of my tbr shelves and blog a lot more about a wider variety of reading!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all of your resolutions!
Good luck with all your challenges! I'll be keeping an eye on your Postal Reading challenge hoping for a whole new list of books to find and read! Happy New Year!
DeleteWow! Good luck with it all! Last year my resolution was to read more books (which I did), so this year I am looking to be more focused. I am working on my list, and so far it includes some books collecting dust on my shelves, non-fiction like "Gift From the Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh and "Team of Rivals", and I am narrowing my list to include a couple of classics as well. Here's to a great reading year! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I appreciate all your support and all your comments. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
DeleteThese are great goals! I hope to read more classics and more non-fiction myself in 2014. Those new fiction releases just seem to pile up!
ReplyDeleteI hope your New Year is off to an amazing start!
Thank you so much! So far, so good. Fingers crossed, it continues...for all of us.
