5 Bookish Frustrations...

1. A disappointing ending that ruins an otherwise perfectly good book.
(Why do authors do this?)

2. Over 100 holds on a book I want to read RIGHT NOW.
(Patience isn't my strong suit.)

3. Impossibly hard-to-get, out-of-print books that are too expensive to buy just to read once.

4. Not enough shelves!
(Because owning too many books couldn't possibly be the problem.)

5. My library still closed for renovations!
(It's been four months, people. Finish already!)

What frustrates you?
Happy Reading!

  1. I agree with the first four! Luckily my library is open.

I would add, reading about wonderful books on blogs outside the US, and then discovering the books aren't available in the US.

    1. I phrased it badly - I do of course agree with #5, and sympathize with those cut off from their libraries!

    2. Thank you for sympathizing...and I'm glad your library isn't closed. :) And I agree, it's very frustrating to read about a book that you want to check out only to find out that it's not available here.

  2. Yes to all! My library is not closed for renovations, but I would hate it if it were.

    1. It's been awful. But rumor has it that it might open up again next month. My fingers are crossed!

  3. I have to agree with all five, except that living in a rural area means that there aren't quite so many people ahead of me in the queue for library books.

While we were wondering exactly when our library would move, the old building developed a leak in the roof, and so now we have a restricted service in a very small part of the building.

I hope you won't have to wait too much longer for yours.

    1. Oh, no. I'm sorry about your library. Hopefully the move will be quick and not too traumatic. (And hopefully mine will open up again soon.)

  4. I can agree with all of your frustrations (although our library is open, I can sympathize with that one), but also agree with Lisa's mention of books that are not available in the U.S.

    1. That is super frustrating. Sometimes I'm jealous of people who live in England just for the books that they get to read. :)

  5. I just had one last night--trying to find a copy of a book published in Australia. Only available here if I pay outrageous shipping or if I get an e-book. Frustration number 2--books available only as e-books.

    1. I'm with you on the e-book thing; more and more library books are now only available as e-books...and I don't like it! :) Thanks for commenting.

  6. Great list...I agree with all of those. Here is one I would like to add...finishing a rather lengthy novel only to discover it is the first of a trilogy and not a stand-alone book! I am tired of trilogies at the moment.

  7. The long hold list is ever so frustrating! Of course, the converse reaction is when that hold finally comes in, so will four others!!
