The Loop by Jeremy Robert Johnson
Strange things are afoot
in Turner Falls; teens are morphing
into murderers.
Science Fiction/Horror .... 303 pages .... 3.5/5 stars.
(A crazy ride with suspense, violence, gore and three amazing characters; I couldn't put it down.)
The Shadows Between us by Tricia Levenseller
She plans to marry
the king, then kill him; she
falls in love instead.
Fantasy .... 324 pages .... 4.5/5 stars.
(Alessandra is one independent, unapologetically calculating, and feisty heroine. I couldn't help but like her.)
Poisonous (Max Revere #3) by Allison Brennan
Cyberbully Ivy
is dead and no one cares but
her brothers. And Max.
Mystery/Suspense .... 354 pages .... 4/5 stars.
(Another compelling mystery!)
Happy Reading!
All these books sound like great reads! :)
ReplyDeleteI liked them. :)
DeleteDeliciously intriguing!
ReplyDelete:D Thanks!
DeleteLong live haiku reviews!
ReplyDeleteThe Levenseller sounds like it could my thing.
I ended up really liking that book! A little fantasy, a little romance, a scheming main character that you really like. It was a fun read.
DeleteAll of these sound awesome! Love your haiku reviews. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ashley. They're fun to write.
DeleteYou make them all sound so interesting!
ReplyDeleteI try! :)
DeleteThese reviews make me wonder if publishers should start doing one-sentence reviews of their own because they make me more curious about the book than reading a 200-word publisher's blurb.
ReplyDelete:D Sometimes long blurbs say too much and make me decide NOT to read a book; short snippets that say less can be more intriguing.
DeleteYour reviews definitely make a case for picking up one of these! All sound pretty good!
ReplyDeleteA good batch of books this time around. :)
DeleteI agree with you and Sam... these short snippets are far more intriguing than huge long reviews which I struggle to get to the end of sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI struggle with long reviews, too...both reading and writing them. ;D
DeleteLove the haiku reviews. The Shadows Between Us sounds especially good.
ReplyDeleteI ended up really liking that one. :)
DeleteWow these all sound good! I especially like the sound of Loop and the last one. Chilling premise and neat stormy cover also!
ReplyDeleteThe Loop was a little dark, but compelling. And I really liked the three main characters.
DeleteMust try The Shadows Between Us! Yay for another Max Revere! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking Brennan's Max Revere series. This one has Lucy Kincaid in it, so now I want to read that series, too. :)
DeleteYay, more Haiku reviews! I read Shadows Between Us recently. Can't say I liked it much, but you're right -- the character was "unapologetically calculating" and you've got to admire her for that. :-)
ReplyDelete~Lex
I couldn't agree with what all she did, but I liked her anyway. Maybe because she was so honest. And fearless.
DeleteI love these Haiku reviews! And Shadows Between Us sounds good.
ReplyDeleteI like that one; it's a fun read.
DeleteWow, you make all three sound inviting and in so few words! I love the breadth of genres you read too. It always impresses me.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd get bored if I only read one kind of book, you know? I like to mix it up. :)
DeleteWow
ReplyDeleteThese always amaze me!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D
DeleteThat was fun. All new to me books.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary. :)
DeleteI love your Haiku reviews! I am terrible at writing Haikus, I admire how well you do it. I haven't read any of these books yet. They look interesting.
ReplyDeleteWriting the haikus are fun...as long as you don't count my syllables too closely. I sometimes have to fudge a line here and there to make them work. :)
DeleteYay for mini reviews! I think I'm seven reviews behind now. I'm getting closer to catching up . . . The Shadows Between Us is on my radar. I am so glad you liked it. Allison Brennan's books also sounds good.
ReplyDeleteBoth were really good reads! Good luck catching up on your seven reviews.
DeleteI love your haiku reviews! Succinct and intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I try hard. :D
DeleteYou most definitely have my attention with your review for The Loop!! I very much want to know why they are morphing into killers (and how!)
ReplyDeleteIt's an intense read. And not everybody survives.
DeleteOh wow - The Shadows Between Us is on my TBR just for that cover lol! So glad you enjoyed it so much!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a great cover? And Alessandra is quite the main character! I ended up really liking that one. :D Thanks for commenting!
