- Ants. Swarms of them. So many it felt like I was walking into an Antapocalypse. What's up with that?
- Baby robins hopping after their mother in search of breakfast.
- The cutest dog, tail wagging, happily carrying his own red frisbee on his walk to the park with his owner.
- Lovely white yucca blossoms. So many of them. Everywhere except in my own yard. For some unknown reason, my yucca plants refuse to bloom.
- Three chattering squirrels running along the top of a fence then leaping onto a branch of the tree right above my head. For a moment I was afraid I was about to be centerstage in a viral video called "When Squirrels Attack!"
- A sign in someone's flowerbed that read: Garden of Weeden. (It made me laugh.)
- And my favorite thing of all--this quote that my neighbor posted in his front yard: "You believed in the tooth fairy for years; you can believe in yourself for five minutes."
Have a great day!
P.S. I think my comments are falling into spam limbo again; I don't know why, but it happens periodically. So if you haven't heard from me for awhile on your blog, check your spam folder. My comments might all be there.
So great that you do morning walks. And I can understand why because it seems like there is alot of nature where you live and you take the time to notice nature which is so important.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I love about walking outside...I just have to get out early before it gets too hot to enjoy anything.
DeleteLove the "Garden of Weeden"! I may have to steal that.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a great sign? I could certainly put it in any of my flowerbeds! ;D
DeleteI love that quote about believing in yourself! Such a great reminder! :D
ReplyDeleteIt is a great quote! I'm so glad my neighbor found it and put it out in his yard.
DeleteI'm with Ashley Sapp, I love that quote about believing in yourself! Such a great reminder!
ReplyDeleteWe've also had squirrels barking and going wild in our neighborhood recently. I think it's a territorial thing and fighting over food as we've witnessed them scent marking threes etc.
Squirrels can be quite the little troublemakers. I'm glad they don't come into my yard very often.
DeleteI check my spam folder every morning.
ReplyDeleteI do, too. But not everyone else does apparently.
DeleteWhat a lovely post. 'Garden of Weeden'. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteRight? I loved that sign. :D
DeleteI love this little glimpse into your morning walk! Also, I'm glad you can go for walks in the morning. It's too hot here for that.
ReplyDeleteMorning is definitely the only time it's cool enough to take a walk here, unless you go up into the mountains. But I'm grateful we're still cooling off at night. I can't imagine how hot it must be down in Arizona. I'm dreading next week here because we'll be in the high 90s...which I don't love. 100s are so much worse.
DeleteI love all the unexpected goodness you see on walks! Haha about the squirrels! Glad it didn't actually happen! Garden of Weeden gave me a laugh, too. I have to scratch my head when my own comments on the blog land in spam. :)
ReplyDeleteI admit when I find my comments disappearing randomly I start to feel picked on as well as a little frustrated because then I have to try and comment again, and who knows if it'll work the second time, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it.
DeleteI feel like that could happen to me with squirrels, too!
ReplyDeleteYour neighbor is wise...
I really appreciated that sign/quote!
DeleteJust reading about the dog made me smile. I like watching squirrels from a distance but I think having three run at me like that would make me a bit nervous!
ReplyDeleteThey were so unafraid. It was a little unnerving.
DeleteThe last one is priceless--so important to remember...always.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen a baby robin.
Sounds like a lovely walk. So great that you stopped to read the signs, see the stuff, and enjoy the moment.
Baby robins don't have red breasts; they're mostly brown and slightly smaller than their parents, and not quite good at flying yet. But fun to watch hopping after their mom. :D
DeleteCan I steal that quote?
ReplyDeleteRegine
Absolutely! I don't know where my neighbor found it, but it's definitely worth sharing and passing along. :D
DeleteI love the Tooth Fairy comment. That's perfect!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great quote, isn't it?
DeleteSo much cool nature😀 We have baby jays hopping around our yard right now, its amazing!
ReplyDeleteBaby jays...how fun! I love watching all the baby birds this time of year.
DeleteHaha! Yes, if you can believe in Santa...
ReplyDeleteRight? :D
DeleteThese are great!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I need a break from reviewing books. ;D
DeleteGarden of Weeden! That's amazing. Lovely post!
ReplyDeleteIt was the funniest sign. :D
DeleteNew life everywhere makes this my favorite time of the year. All those early spring babies that are starting to make it on their own already. Here it’s baby squirrels everywhere. We’ve really got to be extra careful driving in the neighborhood right now.
ReplyDeleteHope you’re doing well, Lark.
Sam!! How are you? It's so good to hear from you. I just chased a squirrel out of my yard. I like feeding the birds, but I don't want squirrels eating my garden. Life is going pretty well here for me, though my mom is struggling a bit more with old age issues. Growing old is not for the faint of heart. I hope you are doing well, too. Read any good books lately? :D
DeleteI enjoyed your notes on your morning walks. I especially like the quote in your neighbors yard.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were our back working on our small fenced in area (weeding, watering), we must of disturbed a lot of ants, because they ended up climbing on our shoes and clothes. I was afraid too many of them would get inside with us.
I saw your p.s. about your comments. I had checked my spam comments the night before and none of your comments were there. I am glad for the reminder to check often though. You never know.
It's weird when your comments just disappear into the internet ether. I never know why it happens or what to do about it. And the ants this year are so prevalent and abundant. They just seem to be everywhere.
DeleteI might have a land of Weeden too, lol. These are happy signs around the neighborhood. Sorry your comments are not getting thru -- I will watch for them.
ReplyDeleteI wish my flowers grew as well as the weeds! ;D
