10 Things I think we need more of in the world:
- Kindness
- Forgiveness
- Faith
- Positivity & Hope
- Dialogue
- Civility
- Integrity
- Understanding & Empathy
Because what we put out into the world is what we get back. Negative words only lead to more negativity. Hate only begets more hate. And that makes the world a very dark and violent place. But the opposite is also true. Kindness, civility, gratitude, and love can fill the world with light and peace. And who doesn't want that?
If ONLY we lived in such a world! Here's hoping that we can improve it - one good decision and one good act at a time..
ReplyDeleteIf every person did one good act think of the ripple effect and how amazing it could be. One person can change the world.
DeleteAs they say in 'The Matrix' - It's all about choice.
DeleteLast night's happiness class session was about kindness. We all talked about ways that kindness has been contagious in our own lives.
ReplyDeleteKindness is so key. And it costs so little. I have a friend who once said she never regretted being too kind. I try to remember that in my own life.
DeleteKindness Mindfulness Tolerance needed in big doses now.
ReplyDeleteYes! From all of us.
DeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt was a rough weekend for members of our faith, wasn't it? I've been inspired, though, by seeing how kind and forgiving people are being even in the wake of such a horrifying act of hate and violence. There's still good out there, and all of us can be better about being kinder, more inclusive, more forgiving, more tolerant, etc. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteThere is still good out there. And I think it's so important that that's what we're putting out into the world ourselves. Forgiveness and charity are so key.
DeleteSuch a thoughtful list. I especially agree about kindness and empathy, those two alone could change so much if we practiced them more often. Thank you for the reminder to choose light over darkness.
ReplyDeleteWe all have that choice, don't we? And a little more kindness and empathy could change everything.
DeleteWise words.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThis is the best list I have seen for ages. If only everyone tried to follow at least one of those points.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to have met you and some others in the blogging world because so many here are all of that.
Thank you, Marianne! I'm so grateful for all of my blogging friends. You all bring a little more light into my life. :D
DeleteSame here, Lark. And you are one of the very special ones.
DeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ethan.
DeleteI think this was a great post, Lark. So, so many things to think about. Keeping you and all the members of your faith in my prayers. You are a dear, dear person.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your prayers! They are very much appreciated. It's been a challenging week, that's for sure. I'm very grateful for blogging friends like you. :D
DeleteYes, more of all of those things would be good for everyone.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's really not that hard to just be a little kind and tolerant and forgiving.
DeleteHear, hear. I thought of you when I saw the news, such a senseless act of hate. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I really appreciate that. It's been a tough week, but I'm grateful for your friendship and hugs. It really means a lot. :D
DeleteLove this, so true! I love the quote as well.
ReplyDeleteI thought the quote was so timely I had to share it.
DeleteKind thoughts. Hopefully one small step at a time.
ReplyDeleteI think that's the key.
DeleteYes! I agree with you. Such a great post!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nadia!
DeleteSo true! I agree with you 100 percent. Love this! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ashley!
DeleteI agree and no matter what happens attitude can be a choice. It's not easy but it can be done if we work at it.
ReplyDeleteAttitude is a choice...as is our response and reaction to other people. We can choose kindness, or not. It's up to each one of us.
DeleteVery wise. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIt's just what's been on my heart and mind lately.
DeleteEverything is a choice. Thank you.

Thanks, Regine! :D
DeleteI agree with you, Lark. I do work hard to remind myself that attitude is something we have control over. Not hard enough yet, though.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard. I try to remember that I want to put out good things, light and kindness and hope, into the world, not more contention and negativity. But I, too, am a work in progress.
DeleteIt definitely feels at times like we are lacking kindness in our world as well as empathy and understanding and everything else you listed. I've started being very aware of the energy I'm putting out to those around me.
ReplyDeleteIt's important. If more of us focus on the positive and on being kind maybe we can change the tenor and tone of the world.
DeleteTotally agree. As much as I appreciate how we can connect via the internet, I think we need to start spending more time with each other in person and restore some of the humanity we are losing.
ReplyDeleteSpending time with family and friends in person is SO important. I totally agree.
DeleteI agree with everything here! I fear the current climate is promoting the opposite. There's talk of Jesus and faith and yet so many behave in absolutely hateful ways.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that sad? I hate that people are skewing so heavily towards hate and meanness. That's why I try to promote positive things on my blog.
DeleteSuch a beautiful post, and I couldn't agree with you more. Have a wonderful week, my friend!
ReplyDelete:D Thank you!
DeleteOh, how I agree. We need all of these things in abundance. I don't understand how people are obsessed with idea of making this a Christian country and are ruled by so much hate. The irony. I can only hope that things change at some point, or I don't even know where we will be in 3 years. We can only try to combat it and hope for the best. <3
ReplyDeleteAnd do our small part to share kindness and light and hope.
DeleteChoose wisely. How I agree
ReplyDeleteIt's us to each of us what we put out into the world. And I'm going to try and focus on the positive. :D
DeleteI agree with all of this. Our words and the way we speak matter. Acts of kindness matter, and they make a difference. The world needs more kindness, more empathy, more hope, more of a vision of how it could be if we all treated each other with respect, dignity, kindess, and love.
ReplyDeleteBut it's also important to speak truth, and to shine a light on the terrible things that are happening in a way that (hopefully) engages empathy for those being oppressed and harmed. To say: what is being done here is unacceptable, is wrong. To urge the perpetrators and those who are silent to reject violence and oppression and treat others with kindness and respect instead.
