Can you believe it? A pair of great horned owls have been nesting at the Salt Lake City Cemetery for the past six years. They are incredible birds. And I finally spotted one!! I'm closing in on my 150th bird...maybe this summer.
Happy Birding!
P.S. Here's a picture of the little brown creeper:
Oh the owl is beautiful. Congrats. Neat. So hard to see owls: it's terrific that you did.
ReplyDeleteI was really excited...seeing an owl has been on my wishlist for a couple of years now.
DeleteWhat a wonderful contrast of large and small birds. Glad you got to see both.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was a really good birding day. :)
DeleteThese are absolutely amazing! Wonderful photographs and what a miracle to capture these gorgeous animals in the wild!!
ReplyDeleteThe brown creeper does not seem creepy at all, quite cute acutally. Or do I misunderstand the word creeper? :-)
Kind regards,
Creeper is related to "creepy", you got it right. I don't know why they call these little birds that. Maybe because of the way they run up the trunks of trees, but they dart up, they don't creep. So, I think they've been misnamed. :)
DeleteSuch a great day! I only wish we had been able to get good photos of these birds. The owl really hid in the tree, and those little creepers move pretty fast.
