  1. I love that picture, I wonder how we would have done if we lived in those times? I guess I might have been happy!

    1. I could enjoy spending a few quiet weekends like that. Maybe not all the time though.

  2. Absolutely agree with Jenny Colgan - life's too short to waste time on a book you're not enjoying!

  3. Good sentiments (funnily enough I've just abandoned a book) and a nice relaxing scene.

    1. It's pretty, isn't it? I just think it should have a few more bookshelves in it. :)

  5. Lovely picture! And I completely agree with that quote. There are too many good books out there to waste time on the ones we're not enjoying. :)

  8. Some time ago, I tried to create an old-look photo, tried to hunt down older historical paintings for that. I couldn't find a single one on the museum websites! I wish I had found this one then. Thanks for sharing this one~

    1. I run across them in books, and on calendars, and at museums, and sometimes I just google paintings of women reading and I get lucky. :)

  12. Excellent quote and one I follow. If a book is not working for me, go to another. And, isn't that painting beautiful?
