Michael Robotham is one of my favorite authors. I absolutely love his Joe O'Loughlin series. So when he came out with a new series in 2019 centered around a new main character, I was excited to give it a try. Three years later, I finally got around to it.
He's also been asked to help investigate the shocking murder of a local high-school figure skater, Jodie Sheehan. She's talented, pretty and popular, but she had secrets she was hiding from everyone around her. Cyrus believes one of those secrets got her killed, but proving it is another matter. Then Evie unexpectedly stumbles onto another of Jodie's secrets, and things get even more interesting and intense.
What can I say about this book? The plot is engrossing, the characters captivating. I liked Cyrus Haven immediately, and feisty Evie quickly won me over as well. And the mystery involving Jodie's murder was equally compelling. This thriller is the perfect summer read. I'd give it 5 stars. I can't wait to check out the next book in this series.
Are Jodie and Cyrus connected somehow? I'm curious!
ReplyDeleteCyrus's only connection to her case is that he's a forensic psychologist who helps out the police on certain investigations with interviewing witnesses, suspects, etc.
DeleteWow! Sounds intense and intriguing.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very fun read. :)
DeleteI have not read anything by Michael Robotham, but I'll be adding him to my TBR.
ReplyDeleteI love his books! He writes great characters and interesting mysteries with good suspense.
DeleteThis sounds excellent! I'm gonna have to see if my library has a copy. :)
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed because it's a good one! :)
DeleteThat sounds really good. I might like this one.
ReplyDeleteI hope you give it a try. I really love the way Robotham writes. :)
DeleteSounds like a winner. I have read a few of his books and enjoyed them but nothing recently so perhaps I should try this one. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun read. And I'm looking forward to reading the other books he's written about Cyrus and Evie. :)
DeleteMy mystery book group is reading this book this month. So glad to hear you enjoyed it. I've liked several of his books but didn't actually realize this was part of a series. I better get started on it soon!
ReplyDeleteThe third book is coming out this month, I think. It's nice that we're not too far behind in this series...yet. ;D Hope you enjoy this one!
DeleteAfter reading your review, I'm very glad that I have this book waiting for me on my Kindle.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good one. I really like Cyrus Haven and Evie is a crazy fun character. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this one. :)

ReplyDeleteMichael Robotham's books are so great! I've loved every one that I've read. :)
DeleteI have not tried this author. Glad you loved the new series!
ReplyDeleteHis other series is such a favorite I was afraid I wouldn't like this one as much, but I needn't have worried. It's great, too.
DeleteHi Lark, Sounds like Evie was convicted of murdering this man years ago and incarcerated but now this new murder of Jodie could mean she is innocent. It sounds like a great new series and the fact that you have rated it 5 stars means it is really worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteEvie was never convicted of anything. She was a child when the police found her and made her a ward of the state. But the mystery of who she is and what happened to her is fascinating.
DeleteSounds fabulous. Evie sounds like a fascinating character.
ReplyDeleteShe really is! I can't wait to read the next book about her and Cyrus.
DeleteYet another author I haven't heard of that I need to look into. LOL
ReplyDeleteI think you'd like Robotham's books. I love his Joe O'Loughlin series. :)
DeleteI've never read him, but I want to try him now! This sounds like a great start, or maybe I'll start on the other series first. Must pop over to my library app.
ReplyDeleteI love his other series so much, but I thought this one was just as good. Basically any of his books where the plot interests you the most would be a good one to start with. :)
DeleteI confess I haven't read this author but this does sound like something that I might enjoy reading.
ReplyDeleteI love his books, so, of course, I think you'd like them, too. ;D
DeleteThis sounds like an interesting character for a series to be based around...all new to me, author and the two series you mention, but I'm going to take a look.
ReplyDeleteHi, Sam! I think you'd like Michael Robotham's books. His first series with Joe O'Loughlin is so good. And this new series shows equal promise. :)
