This painting and quote are inspiring and in line with my thinking. I think I will do a post soon on reading and beautiful paintings. You might like the address book I bought, "The Reading Woman", published by Pomegranate, about 50 paintings.
Love that picture...so calming. I've walked while reading a few times when on solitary walking paths; a few trees did jump into the middle of the trail, though, and I never remembered they were there the next time around until I either brushed into them or stopped at the last second. :-)
Yes and no - most people who read are a lot better informed about what's going on in life than those who don't. But yes, it's a great way to get away from it all, as well. And I absolutely love the painting - as always. But this is one of my favourites.
I LOVE this painting! Its perfect angle and perfect colors (the white dress of the lady contrasting the yellow and green of the garden). It's simple yet exquisite.
It certainly is and I would also say 'escaping from world events'. I honestly don't know what non-readers do to get away from 'stuff'.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how people cope without the escape from the world that books offer either!
DeleteLove that painting and the quote, too.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with that quote. Love the painting too! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was in a garden like that busy escaping life with a wonderful read too! :) Love these.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it gorgeous?

DeleteThat would be a lovely place to read. ♥️
ReplyDeleteI walk and read at the same time too sometimes. LOL Love the painting and quote. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt gets a little tricky to do depending on where you're walking! ;D

ReplyDeleteI don't really recommend reading and walking ... mostly because I'd never manage to stop in time or avoid the hazard ahead. ;D
DeleteCouldn't agree more! :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent image--that's my image of myself circa 150 years ago :)
ReplyDelete:D Love it.
DeleteThat quote could be the theme of my life and the picture is wonderfully evocative.
ReplyDeleteIt could definitely be the theme of my life, too. Especially lately. :D
DeleteI agree wholeheartedly with that quote!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous painting! I am a pro at ignoring life!
ReplyDeleteMe, too! :D

ReplyDeleteI have not been successful with reading & walking but I like the painting!

ReplyDeleteLove this artwork. I would probably stumble over my feet if I tried to walk and read, but this is a beautiful painting.
ReplyDelete;D I'd fall for sure!
DeleteLove that quote from Pessoa. The picture's fun, too.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great quote, isn't it?
DeleteI really liked Pessoa's book--it was full of sensible things like that... ;-)
DeleteSounds like a book I need to read.
DeleteThat quote is essentially my life philosophy! Love it and I love the painting. Another one I'd love to have a print of.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good philosophy to have!
