Randomness...

Has anyone see the new movie Karate Kid: Legends yet? I haven't, but I want to. I was a big fan of the original Karate Kid movie, and I love that they brought Ralph Macchio back in this one along with Jackie Chan. What a fun combo! I can't wait to see it.

I bought this new fun wall clock last month. It has twelve different birds around it that chirp on the hour. I love hearing their different songs. The chickadee song at 8:00 especially makes me smile.

A sad truth:  my summer reading list is already so long I need an extra month or two ...or three... to read all the books on it. And it's hard to narrow it down because I want to read all the books all at once. How do you choose between so many good books? Maybe I'll put all the titles in a hat and draw them out one by one and leave it up to chance. At least I don't need to worry about running out of books to read this summer.

And here are some of my glad things from May (it's a shorter list this time around because May was a rough month for me, but good things still came my way):
  • The beautiful blooms on my roses.
  • Strawberries ready to pick.
  • Ladybugs!
  • Playing games with friends.
  • Spending time with family on Memorial Day.
  • Best of all, school's out for summer! (I like my job, but I love summer vacation even more. I just wish I had a fun summer trip planned. Oh, well. Maybe next year.)

  1. My father-in-law was an expert in birds. One year, ages ago (he's been dead for 25 years), we bought him that clock. He loved it. And my mother-in-law still has it in her living room, reminding her of her husband.
I have a huge TBR pile. I usually try to read different kind of books from different countries, different genres, different eras, usually about four to five, at the moment seven. That way, I don't get confused but I feel I get on quicker because there are always a few books that I really want to finish reading.
Yes, the garden is beautiful at this time of the year. We play more games in the wintertime, now it's time for BBQs and outings.
I'm always surprised when I hear that your school year has ended. Depending where you live in Europe, holidays start between July and August.

    1. If you read more than one book at a time they definitely have to be different from one another. I do that sometimes when I'm reading a longer nonfiction book. And they've been pushing to get school out earlier here in the states; we used to go into June and then not come back until September. But now we're out at the end of May and back halfway through August. I'm not sure I like the change, but I am not in charge. ;D

    2. You might get to like the shorter terms. That's what our American teachers said. Children don't get as exhausted towards the end of them. And neither do teachers.

  2. I've seen the trailer for Karate kid: legends and it looked good. I've seen the original and the one with Jackie Chan and liked those. I would pretty much see anything with Jackie chan.

I would read multiple books at once but I think if you don't get to read a book now, you can always do it later.

Your glad lists sounds good. Too bad I can't get strawberries right, my forever favorite fruit.

    Have a lovely day.

  3. What a cool clock!
I love the idea of choosing your next book by picking it out of hat. My TBR list is overflowing, so I might have to try that.
Hope you have a wonderful week, Lark! :D

  4. I had that clock many years ago and enjoyed having it hanging in our den. I'm not sure what ever happened to it. It's likely packed aways somewhere in the attic.

  5. I didn't even know there was a new Karate Kid movie out! I'll have to check that out.

That clock sounds like so much fun.

    1. The only reason I want to see the new Karate Kid movie is because Ralph Macchio is in it; I think it will be fun.

  6. I loved the Karate Kid movie when I was a kid. I hadn't heard of Karate Kid: Legends, but then, I am not really up on movies anymore. I will have to check it out when I get the chance. What a cute clock! I love that it includes the bird sounds. My roses finally did bloom--so beautiful! I hope you enjoy your summer break! I'm taking a couple weeks off this month from work and looking forward to it. Have a great week and month of June!

  7. Listen to some of the books while doing chores and maybe you will squeeze more in :) I am with you, I won't run out of books to read, only time to read them. I hope you have a great summer vacation, even if you don't have a trip planned!

  8. I liked the original Karate Kid, too. My in-laws have a train version of that clock and its fun when it strikes the hour.
LOL, I always have more books that I want to read than I have time to read them.

    Have a good week, Lark!

  9. I've watched all the Karate Kid movies and the only ones worth watching were the ones with Ralph macchio in my opinion. The other ones weren't as good at all. Have you seen the Karate Kid series called Cobra Kai? I really like it.

    1. The first Karate Kid movie is definitely my favorite! I haven't seen the Cobra Kai series, but I know a lot of people who have been loving it. It sounds good.

  10. Sorry to hear you've had a rough May! Hope your June is wonderful! :) I loved the original Karate Kid too. Haven't watched the newer series or movie. Jackie Chan usually adds fun to any movie. You'll have to tell us what you think.

Randomly picking from a hat sounds like a good solution. I love the birding clock! I am also enjoying the blooms on my roses and the fact there are ladybugs in there too as they eat up all the nasty aphids!

    1. Aphids are the worst! And now it's starting to get hot so my roses are fading. But I'm hoping June is a good month full of good books and fun. Fingers crossed. :D

  11. I also had noted the Karate Kid movie. Ralph Macchio - can't believe they got him again and the addition of Jackie Chan is a good one. We'll probably wait for it to stream, but it definitely brought back good memories. As to summer reading, I'm so impressed with all who make the '20 books' list, etc., but I'm just going to read whatever is most appealing at the moment. I think your random pick idea sounds like a good one. Have a good week!!

    1. I'm trying to straddle that line of making a summer reading list, but still allowing room for mood changes and time to read the books that appeal most in the moment. :D

  12. I think my parents had that exact clock. It was fun to hear all the different bird calls throughout the day. I hope you enjoy it. I too had too many books for my summer list. Somehow I had to cut my books in half to get down to 15. You'll have to be ruthless to pick the ones you most look forward to, lol.

  13. I heard an interview with Ralph Macchio this weekend and that's the only way I knew that there was a new Karate Kid movie. I'm not sure I want to see it even though I love the Karate Kid and Cobra Kai! It seems to be going the way of Star wars and oversaturating the market.

    1. I just think it's fun that they got Macchio to come do this movie and give a nod Pat Morita at the same time.

  14. I love your clock! We have 3 weeks of Springwatch on the BBC at the moment, they base they base themselves in a great spot and examine the wildlife, but espically the birds. They also film around the country and we saw Golden Eagles, short-eared owls, curlews and many more. Love it. Enjoy your summer break, Lark!

  16. We have that clock, although it no longer chirps--used to drive our dog crazy!

You have roses blooming??? You have strawberries ready to pick??? My roses are just budding and my strawberries are far from ripe. Enjoy!

    1. Summer seems to be coming a bit early this year. Next week I think we'll be in the 90s, which I hate. I want spring to last a little longer. But I do love the roses and the strawberries. :D

  17. I love the clock! The chickadee would make me happy too. We are at the tail end of strawberry season here so I need to get some before they go away. My TBR is ridiculous and it doesn't help that I keep buying books and adding to my library list! Good luck with your summer reading list!

    1. Thank you. I keep trying to narrow it down, but then find myself adding three or more books to it everyday. I think it's a losing battle. ;D
