Love this!

Lori Nix and Kathleen Gerber
Don't you wish this place was real? It's so intriguing. I'd love to explore every nook and cranny... and read all those books, too.  Even abandoned and in ruins, it's a truly magical library.

I thoroughly enjoyed these two recent reads.  My Sister's Intended by Rachael Anderson is an engaging Regency Romance that didn't make me roll my eyes once. And The Thin Woman by Dorothy Cannell  is both a treasure hunt and a mystery all in one. Both of these books are light-hearted, humorous reads by authors I look forward to reading again.

Another John Atkinson 'summing up' that totally made me laugh!
His Stephen King spoilers are equally funny:

(And now you don't have to read the books!)

Another thing I love? This....

Need I say more?

Happy Reading!

  3. Love the abandoned, overgrown library! A regency romance that didn’t make you roll your eyes? Wow. I read tons of these as a teen and loved them but there was always eye rolling. I’ll have to check it out.

    1. The library is awesome, isn't it? And I liked that the Regency romance had a lot of humor in it, and that it wasn't super long, and so didn't have time to get stupid.

  4. I enjoyed The Thin Woman too. The library is mystical, is that a photo or a painting? If a photo, I hope someone has rescued those books. Can you tell I am a librarian?

    1. I think it's a painting/diorama. Not a photo. But you can check out the artist's website to be sure.

  5. Love the book picture, and yes I wish it was real! The spoilers are pretty funny! I guess those authors do stick to a general formula. :)

  8. LOL. Those SK spoilers are funny. I haven't read Cujo so I guess I don't have to read it? ;p

  9. I love that scene, I would definitely hang out there! Especially in its heyday- looks like maybe an elven library in Middle- earth or something. :)

I love those spoiler boxes, especially the King one!

    1. It does look like an Elven library in Middle-earth! How cool would it be to spend a day there?

  10. That neglected library looks kind of sad! The Dickens thing sums up my issues with classics-poor guy gets rich or woman marries man after problems!

  11. My Sister's Intended has been on my TBR since it came out. It sounds like a great read and that cover is gorgeous. I've read quite a few of Rachael Anderson's books and loved them all, so I don't know why I haven't read this one yet, lol. Hopefully I will soon!

  12. That picture kind of could be a representation of The Cemetery of Forgotten Books in the Carlos Ruiz Zafon series.

Those cartoons are classic (and so true...but for lovers of either author, I think that is exactly why we read them! :D)

And the summaries are great, they made me laugh so loud!

    Kind regards,

  14. I love that picture! To read among not only books but trees as well . . . Heaven. I love the comics. Dickens and King don't vary their plot very often in those books, do they? Haha

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Lark!

  15. Oooh, that place is intriguing! I would very much like to explore all those nooks and crannies as well.

I like Regency romances that don't make me roll my eyes :) I'll have to check out the one you mentioned plus the treasure hunt/mystery -- both sound like entertaining reads.

  16. I came across a whole series of photos of miniature abandoned libraries and other buildings once. I think this one was part of it. It was so cool; I would love to find it again!

I read The Thin Woman decades ago, and it was indeed a fun light mystery. And the comics summarizing Dickens and King books are hilarious.
