This week's theme: Books that give off Summer Vibes.
Which made me stop and think about what says "SUMMER" to me. Here's what I came up with:
The Ocean:
Jaws
by Peter Benchley
The Blue
by Lucy Clarke
Beach Cottage:
Cottage at the Beach
by Lee Tobin McClain
The Summer Cottage
by Viola Shipman
Road Trip!
Helen & Troy's Epic Road Quest by A. Lee Martinez
Summer Camp:
Lumberjanes: Pungeon Master
by Noelle Stevenson and Grace Ellis
Illus. by Brooke A. Allen
Be Prepared
by Vera Brosgol
Amusement Parks!
(Even haunted ones.)
by Jeff Strand and James A. Moore
Nightmare
by Robin Parrish
Island life:
Fun Outdoor Adventure:
by Katherine Center
by Melinda Braun
Romance:
(I picked these two because of their beautiful summery covers.)
Lakeshire Park
by Megan Walker
Promised
by Leah Garriott
Lazy days and childhood games:
Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury
Happy Reading!
That's a fun topic and yes, I'd imagine myself indulging in a few books you listed here. Some of them looks good to me! :)
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to do a summer buddy read. :)
DeleteHi Lark, Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. One of those books I've always wanted to read. Read his book the Martian Chronicles. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteDandelion Wine always reminds me of summer. It's one of my favs. :)
DeleteOh yes, the Summer Cottage is on my TTT list too. What a fantastic book it is. Happy reading and stay safe and well.
ReplyDeleteThank you. :D And thanks for commenting!
DeleteI love the way you organized this. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT .
Thanks, Lydia! :)
DeleteSeveral for me to look up, Happiness for Beginners, The Haunted Forest Tour, Lakeshire Park. All look interesting.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Happiness for Beginners. And I haven't read Lakeshire Park yet, but it looks really good to me, too. :)
DeleteJaws is one of my favorite movies but I've never read the book.
ReplyDeleteI've never read the book either, but it gives off a good summer vibe, doesn't it? :)
DeleteI like the way you divided up your post. I haven't read any of these, but I love their bright, summery covers. I'm not a fan of summer heat, which is already crazy here in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
You do have crazy summer heat in Arizona. Thank heavens for AC! And it does give you an excuse to stay inside where it's cool and read. :D
DeleteGood work! JAWS! Make me feel ancient--I remember when it and the movie each came out!
ReplyDeleteAnd were you afraid to go in the water afterwards? ;D
DeleteI love the way you broke down this topic into smaller sub categories. Road Trips is one I don't think I could have come up with on my own!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up my family went on at least one road trip every summer, so summer reading wouldn't be complete without at least one road trip book. :)
DeleteI love the you went about this topic. A great idea.
ReplyDeleteHere is my TTT.

Thanks. And thanks for commenting. :)
DeleteThese all scream summer to me!
ReplyDelete:D Thanks!
DeleteJaws definitely! Wow awesome pick. :) And The Blue as well. Also Lumberjanes- perfect for summer!
ReplyDeleteThey just scream summer to me. :)
DeleteThose beach cottage books are right up my alley!!
ReplyDeleteDon't they look delicious? :)
DeleteOh, I like horror and thrillers in the Summer too! Jaws! The ultimate scary Summer beach read, lol! I was afraid to swim in my pool for years imagining a shark could come out of the drain at the bottom! I was very young... :)
ReplyDeleteYou might want to avoid watching the film Ghost Shark or you could see your nightmares come true!
DeleteNow you've got me wanting to watch that movie! (Cause I don't have a pool, so I'd be safe.)
DeleteGreat list! Summer certainly calls out sharks, forests and a lot of other creepy things! I love summer horror...
ReplyDeleteMe, too! :D
DeleteJaws surprised me because I always think of summer reads as light and fluffy, but you're not wrong LMAO! Love the categories too!
ReplyDelete:D Gotta have a little summer horror along with the summer romance.
DeleteI love all these covers! They definitely radiate all those summer vibes and I'm here for it 😍 Great list!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun list to put together. Thanks for commenting! :)
DeleteWhat an eclectic list!
ReplyDeleteYou know me...I like to read lots of different kinds of books. :)
DeleteSummer reading may be the best part of this particular summer. I'm still uncomfortable venturing too far from home for more than quick stops - especially after seeing those huge crowds of protesters/rioters on TV this week. If we get a bad second wave of covid-19, that's where it will have started.
ReplyDeleteWe've had stupid protestors here who weren't wearing masks; I'm sure our COVID numbers will spike again because of it. I'm like you, not straying too far from home, although I did brave Wal-Mart today. But at least we have our books and our summer reading to look forward to. That's one happy thing. :)
DeleteSo many great reads for the summer! I love reading about amusement parks, especially the creepy ones. :)
ReplyDeleteMe, too! :D
DeleteOh wow! I love how you did your list!! So good. I've been seeing Lumberjanes around lately. I think I'll need to look into it!!
ReplyDelete:D Thanks! And I agree, the Lumberjane series looks very fun. :)
DeleteThese books definitely give off the summer vibes! ☀️ I was debating whether or not to add JAWS to my list this week, and I should have!
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT list.
Jaws feels very summer vibe-ish to me! :)
DeleteWow, great job! I love how you broke them up by island life, the ocean, etc. Definitely summer vibes with all of these books.
ReplyDeleteI had fun doing this post. :)
DeletePutting Dandelion Wine on my reading list--I want to like Ray Bradbury but I don't like the genre he is best known for, but this sounds marvelous.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about Dandelion Wine that I really love, so I hope you like it, too. :)
