Bookish happiness....

I have library books again! After being closed for 75 days, the Salt Lake County library system finally decided to give curbside checkouts a try. The process felt a little overly complicated at first, but it ended up working pretty well. And I have new books to read. So I'm happy! What did I check out?

The End of Temperance Dare by Wendy Webb
Two Girls Down by Louisa Luna
The Way of the Brave by Susan May Warren
A Most Inconvenient Marriage by Regina Jennings
Fast Cakes: Easy Bakes in Minutes by Mary Berry
The War Bride's Scrapbook by Caroline Preston
Hidden by Rebecca Zanetti
Dead Girls by Abigail Tarttelin
Collateral Damage by Lynette Eason
Cottage at the Beach by Lee Tobin McClain
The Man in the Brown Suit by Agatha Christie
The Veil by Chloe Neil

I know. I went a little overboard. (Okay, a lot overboard!) I'm sure I'm going to have to renew at least half of these in order to get them all read before they're due back. But that's what a pandemic and being library-deprived for so long does to me. And I love knowing that I have plenty of books to read...you know, just in case my library ends up unexpectedly closing again. Here's hoping all the libraries everywhere reopen soon.

Happy Reading!

  2. 75 days is a long time, so you get a pass for going overboard lol. I'm guilty of always checking out way more books than I'll actually be able to read.

    1. It's one of my weaknesses that's for sure. My library bag is always overflowing! :) And I'm always putting on more holds than I can possibly read. But it's a free and harmless addiction.

  3. Yay for Mary Berry! And for The Man in the Brown Suit which I loved. :-) No libraries open in the UK yet but hopefully soon.

    1. I've already picked out three yummy treats I want to bake. And then I'll have something to eat while I read. ;D Sorry your libraries are still closed. Fingers crossed they reopen soon.

  9. That's a whole lot of books in one trip to the library. LOL

But that's what happens when you go through Library-Withdrawal the way we've all had to do. I suspect my first trip will result in a similar load - if mine ever opens back up.

    1. :D I know, I completely went overboard on the number of books I checked out. But I feel much better having a bunch of new books now. Hope your library opens soon...at least for curbside checkout!

  10. Lark, I know you're happy to have new books. Libraries have certainly been missed. I don't check out print copies from the library all that much, but have really missed my time volunteering at the Austin library. They are opening for curbside at a few locations next Monday, but I fear that volunteers will not be returning for a long, long time. Ah well. Of the ones you checked out, I've read the Wendy Webb book and liked it. Enjoy!

  11. I hope you enjoy your library books! I'll be spending the summer ploughing through books from my reading list and hopefully getting them off to charity shops when the shops re-open!

  14. Aw how exciting! Ours is open but only curbside pick up too. They have a whole process on quarantine for books after they are returned. I think for now though I'm going to continue to focus on my shelves which are still bursting. Hope you enjoy Two Girls Down - I thought that was really good!

    1. I'm excited to read Two Girls Down! (And our library 'quarantines' all the returned books, too, which means they don't get checked in until four days after you return them. It's a little frustrating...but I guess that's life in the COVID world.)

  15. Have fun binge reading your library books!! The only author I've heard of and read from your list is Agatha Christie.
