Haiku reviews...

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

Eight days. Eight lives to
inhabit. Eight chances to
find a murderer.

Mystery .... 430 pages .... 5/5 stars.
(Compelling and unique way to tell a story!)

The Match by Sarah Adams

Evie and her service
dog are just what single dad
Jake and his daughter need.

Romantic comedy .... 268 pages .... 4/5 stars.
(Loved the humor and heart in this one!)

Have Brides, Will Travel by William W. Johnstone

It's an easy job: escort
five mail-order brides to Silverhill.
But what's there will surprise them all.

Western .... 299 pages .... 3.5/5 stars.
(Bo and Scratch, the two lead cowboys, totally made me laugh.)

Happy Reading!

  1. I'd forgotten about The 7 1/2 Deaths, but now I want to read it even more. It was on my list, then forgotten. I also should try Johnstone since I read several westerns last year and enjoyed them. :)

    1. Johnstone has written a ton of books. I've only read a few, but I've liked them. And they're always humorous. And The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle turned out to be a really good read. Of course, it took me forever to get around to reading it! ;D

    1. I loved that I couldn't predict where it was going or how it would end, but how the pieces still all came together. :)

  7. Nicely put, as usual, these always make me smile a little.

I must be the only reader in America who failed to get into the 7 1/2 Deaths novel...lasted about 50 pages only. Can't even remember why, now.

    1. If you're like me, there are some books you just have to be in the right mood to read. And if you're not in the right mood, they just don't work for you. It happens to me a lot, even with books everyone else seems to love. :-)

  16. So you've sold me on the match. I've really been craving cute romances later (especially if there is a dog) which is TOTALLY unlike me. But I'm riding the wave!
