Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme is supposed to be Fictional Crushes. But that really didn't work for me. So I tweaked it. Here's my list of....
Favorite Recurring Characters:
❤ Mercy and Adam
(Mercy's a coyote shapeshifter and Adam's an Alpha werewolf in Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series--one of my all time favorite fantasy series.)
❤ Evan Smoak (Aka Orphan X.)
What can I say? I love this series!
❤ Alex Verus
(A time mage in Benedict Jacka's awesome urban fantasy series. The last book comes out later this year and I can't wait to read it, although I'm very sad to see this series come to an end.)
❤ Mercy and Truman
(She's an FBI agent, and secret prepper, and he's the Police Chief in Eagle's Nest, Oregon, in Kendra Elliot's Mercy Kilpatrick mystery series.)
❤ John Taylor
(The man who can find anything from Simon Green's excellent Nightside series.)
❤ Mattie Cobb and her K9 police dog Robo.
(From Margaret Mizushima's Timber Creek K-9 mystery series.)
❤ Harry Potter & Co.
(By J.K. Rowling, of course.)
❤ Lady Kiera Darby and Sebastian Gage
(From Anna Lee Huber's Lady Darby historical mysteries.)
These two make such a great team!
❤ Mercy & Travis and their dogs Elvis & Susie Bear
(From Paula Munier's K9 mystery series.)
❤ Peter Ash
(From Nicholas Petrie's adventurous and action-packed Peter Ash series.)
❤ Casey Duncan and Eric Dalton
(from Kelley Armstrong's Rockton series.)
Honorable Mention: George Holloway!
(From Katie Ruggle's Gone Too Deep.)
Isn't it crazy how many characters named Mercy made this list?
Let me know who some of your favorite fictional characters are!
Happy Reading!
I've only read the Harry Potter but, it is interesting to even be able to come up with so many books with the a character by that name.
ReplyDeleteIt's not even that common of a name...and yet there you go. Three different characters from three different series all named Mercy! :)
DeleteSome of my favorite series here, but I see a couple of books like the Nightshade series and The Drifter that I haven't read.
ReplyDeleteSimon Green's Nightside series is crazy fantasy fun. And I've loved all of the Peter Ash series that I've read. :)
DeleteI didn't read any of this series except by Patricia Briggs, J. K. Rowling and Kelley Armstrong but then again, I haven't read all the books of these series so I've a lot of catching up to do. And as for the rest mentioned I'll have to check them out. :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about needing to catch up on series! There's a lot of series that I'm behind in, too. :)
DeleteI've agree with several of those - Casey Duncan, Evan Smoak, and Harry Potter of course. Others are on my TBR. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And isn't Evan Smoak the best character? I love him.
DeleteWho is your favorite Harry Potter character?
ReplyDeleteOoh...that's a hard one. But I'd have to go with Harry himself. After that, it's really hard to choose because I love Hermione & Ron, & Hagrid, & the twins, & Sirius...so many great characters in these books! I love them all.
DeleteI recently just purchased the first book in the Mercy Thompson series and I can't wait to meet these characters 😍
ReplyDeleteThey're so great! You're going to love them. Thanks for commenting. :)
DeleteI'm must confess I am not familiar with any of these series except Harry Potter, but it is an interesting list.
ReplyDeleteThey're all great series! Especially if you like mysteries and urban fantasy. :D
DeleteI want to read so many of these! I have the first book in the Alex Versus series. Now I just need to find the time to read it.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is kinda funny that so many of these characters are named Mercy, lol! :)
I thought it was strange so many favorite characters were named Mercy! It's not even that common of a name. And the Alex Verus series is awesome. I loved the first book!
DeleteHarry and the gang - I love to hang out with them.
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the other books you mentioned here but I'm sure they are worth having tea or a drink with.
Have a lovely day.
I'd love to hang out with Harry & the gang, too. Like at a Hogwarts reunion. :D
DeleteGreat list! I hadn't heard of the Timber Creek K-9 Mystery Series, but having a K9 police dog by your side would be cool.
ReplyDeleteHope you'll visit my TTT list!
Margaret Mizushima's books are so fun, and so well-written. I really love them. And Robo is one amazing dog! :)
DeleteI love that you went with favorite reoccurring characters. I wish I would have thought of that!
ReplyDeleteI don't really have any fictional crushes, so I had to tweak it this week. :)
DeleteGreat choices. Mercy Thompson would be on my list too though it's a few years since I read a book in the series. I also love Mercy and Elvis! :-)
ReplyDeleteBoth Mercies are great! :D
DeleteI also tweaked this week's topic but yours was more creative...although I think I would have struggled with yours as well. George Holloway looks like Christian Kane from Leverage (tv show!)
ReplyDeleteHe does, doesn't he? That's funny. :)
DeleteI don’t think I have met any of your favorite characters, other than the crew from HP.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get the chance, I hope you can stop by my post and check it out: https://readbakecreate.com/characters-i-would-love-to-have-a-drink-with/
I liked your TTT twist. Very fun. :)
DeleteI've read a few Kate Ruggle books and liked the ones I've read.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Katie Ruggle's books! She writes some fun romances. :)
Deletethe lone ranger and tonto (sorry, lol)
ReplyDeleteThey're a great pair! :D
DeleteThis is a great twist to the challenge. Great list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D
DeleteCasey and Eric for the win. :) And I liked Mercy and Adam too from Mercy thompson although I've only read the first one...
ReplyDeleteCasey and Eric are so great! I love Armstrong's Rockton series. They're such fun books. :D
DeleteMan, I have a lot of love for almost every mention here! Adam and Mercy, Mercy and Truman, Kiera and Gage, Peter Ash, Casey and Eric, George Halloway. That brings to mind that I haven't seen anything new from Katie Ruggle for a while. I wonder what's up. Yes, there's a lot of Mercy's here, lol!
ReplyDeleteWe love so many of the same characters! It's fun. And Katie Ruggle's next bounty hunter book, Into the Fray, was supposed to come out last January; then it got pushed to August. Then it was delayed again. And now her website says she's writing a different book first, and it won't come out until after that! So, sadly, it's going to be awhile.
DeleteI saw so many twists on this topic today (including myself), that would make a TTT all by itself. LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my TTT earlier.
There were a lot of fun twists this week! :)
DeleteVery fun ones.
DeleteI lvoe it when secondary characters become as memorable as the main ones. Then I know the book is a keeper!
ReplyDeleteI agree! It's definitely a sign of a really good book. :)
DeleteHa ha. I had no idea there were so many characters named Mercy out there! Interesting.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Isn't that funny? I didn't realize I liked so many characters with that name until I started writing this list.
DeleteI love Harry and Co. too. It's almost impossible to pick a favorite because I love them all so much.
ReplyDeleteI can't pick a favorite with them either. I love all the characters...even Hedwig, Harry's snowy owl. :)
DeleteGreat list! My favorite is Harry Potter!
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter is the best!
DeleteThat's true about "Mercy"! Though my own favorite is, of course, Briggs' Mercy. And I have only hazy memories of Kelley Armstrong's Casey Duncan and Eric Dalton OTP, should catch up again with that series. Sorry for coming so late to this post~
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting, Lex! :D
DeleteI also tweaked this week's topic but yours was more creative.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'll have to check yours out. :)
