Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme: Books With Names in the Title.
I made it easy for myself when coming up with my list; I just looked at the books sitting on my shelves and picked ten that had names in the title. They're all books I've read, own and love. (Or at least really like.)
Here they are:
1. Juliet by Anne Fortier
2. The Thing About Jane Spring by Sharon Krum
3. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter
4. Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding
5. Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
6. Jane and Prudence by Barbara Pym
7. Delia's Shadow by Jaime Lee Moyer
8. Goodnight, Irene by Jan Burke
9. Belinda by Maria Edgeworth
10. Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
Happy Reading!
Belinda, read it too as part of the Classics Challenge a few years ago. It was a really great book and Jane Austen was a fan.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading Belinda! It's why I bought my own copy of it. :)
DeleteI wouldn't have been surprised if our characters shared a name but, nope, haven't found anyone, yet, with a name that I also used. But I read a few of your books.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT this week.
We do usually have at least one or two of the same books on our lists, don't we? :)
DeleteIt's always fun to see other lists but when I know someone reads at least a few of the same books that I like and vice versa, it's so much better!!
DeleteThanks for reminding me of Jaime lee Moyer and Jan Burke--it has been a long time since I've read either.
ReplyDeleteThey're books are always so good, and so fun to read. I need to see if they've written anything recently.
DeleteI love Bridget Jones Diary. One of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favs, too; a book (and movie) that always makes me laugh. :D
DeleteWondered if anyone else would select Tess of the D'Urbervilles. :) Good choice!
ReplyDeleteMy post: https://pagesandpaws.com/2022/02/01/ttt-books-with-character-names-in-the-titles/
How could I leave Tess of the D'Urbervilles off this list? I love that book. :)
DeleteNice list! I haven't read any of these. DELIA'S SHADOW sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
It's a very fun ghost story/historical fiction/mystery. I think you'd like it. :)
DeleteNever read Bridget Jones but I loved the movie! Great list here, Lark!
ReplyDeleteThat fight scene in the movie between Colin Firth and Hugh Grant is the best thing ever! It makes me laugh every time. :D
Deletei read "Castle Rackrent" by Ms. Edgeworth and loved it... not familiar with her surprising number of other books, tho...
ReplyDeleteBelinda is the first book I read by Edgeworth. I've also read Castle Rackrent. Between the two, Belinda is my favorite. But both are good reads. :)
DeleteWhat an interesting list including some I've read and some I probably need to read.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm curious! Which ones have you read?
DeleteFun list. 'Off with their heads' is a pretty great tagline for Alice in Zombieland.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist that book! And it ended up being a very fun read....and a different take on both zombies and Alice in Wonderland. :)
DeleteI haven't read Bridget Jones's Diary but I have seen the movie adaptation and it was kind of fun. I've read Tess of the d'Urbervilles but it was so depressing, I guess I'm more into happy endings.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
Delia's Shadow was so good. Bridget Jones Diary! I still haven't read that one but want to. I would also like to read Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Great list, Lark! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBridget Jones' Diary is such a classic! I really love that book. And Tess is my favorite Thomas Hardy novel, though it does have a sad ending.
DeleteBridget Jones Diary was a lot of fun. And The Thing About Jane Spring was a blast from the past. According to Goodreads I read it in 2007 so that's been about 15 years!
ReplyDeleteI've never met anyone else who's read The Thing About Jane Spring! That whole thing with her copying Doris Day totally makes me smile. :)
DeleteI actually had a hard time finding books with names in the title, But I was just trying to go with recent reads. My list of book titles with names
ReplyDeleteYeah, if I'd gone with recent reads my list would be a lot shorter! That's why I just scanned my own bookshelves instead.
DeleteI thought this was going to be a challenging prompt, but once I got started, I couldn't stop, and I wish I could add more to my list.
ReplyDeleteThis one ended up being really easy for me, too. Can't wait to check out your list! :)
DeleteMost of these are new to me. Thanks for sharing! https://cindysbookcorner.blogspot.com/2022/02/top-ten-tuesday-character-names.html
ReplyDeleteI can recommend all of them as good reads! At least, I enjoyed reading all of them. :)
DeleteLark, that's great!
DeleteAlways fun to read the Top Ten! I was surprised by how much I liked Belinda when I read it (years ago!).
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Belinda is a surprisingly good book. I liked it so much when I read it I bought a copy of it. :)
DeleteWow, it's been so many years since I read Tess of the D'Urbanvilles! Such a powerful book. And I ended up really liking Juliet too. Great list!
ReplyDeleteBoth books are favs of mine. Tess of the d'Urbervilles was my introduction to Hardy. I saw the movie version first, then read the book.
DeleteAw, Bridget Jones! What a great book!
ReplyDeleteI love that book. It always makes me laugh. :)
DeleteOh yeah Tess -- good one! So many novels with names in the titles, good list!
ReplyDeleteIt was an easy list to come up with because there are so many books out there with names in the title...and lots of them live on my shelves. :)
DeleteFun! I loved Bridget Jones, the book and movie. And I really enjoyed Alice in Zombieland too. :)
ReplyDeleteWasn't Alice in Zombieland fun? I really liked that one.
DeleteThis is such a fun topic this week! Love your list.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeleteGreat list! Tess of the d'Urbervilles was one of my favorite books when I was in college. I'm tempted to re-read it and see if the love is still there.
ReplyDeleteIt's always interesting to revisit favorite books and see how both you and they have changed. :)
DeleteI've never read any of these books before, but I would love to pick up the Virginia Woolf one soon.
ReplyDeleteclaire @ clairefy
That's my favorite V. Woolf novel. :)
DeleteI really should start participating in this because I always enjoy reading other folks' posts. If I'd done this one, I would've done the exact same-- walked over to my shelves, looked at the spines, and made a list. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like easy and that was the easiest way I could think of to make this TTT list. :D And you should join in some time; there's lots of fun weekly themes to choose from.
DeleteGreat list! I have only read Tess, and enjoyed it a lot.
ReplyDeleteHere is my list: https://wordsandpeace.com/2022/02/01/top-ten-books-with-names-in-the-titles/
Tess is a good one. Thanks for commenting! :)
DeleteGood list here! I've read a few: Bridget Jones and Delia's Shadow within past few years and Tess way back when. Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting! It's always nice to meet another blogger who reads similarly. :)
DeleteThat's a fun topic and I loved seeing your answers, Lark. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melody! :)
DeleteNice list. I think I've seen Juliet before, but many of these are new to me. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog this week.
ReplyDeleteJuliet was a fun read, but I liked all the books on this list. :)
DeleteAn interesting list! I love the variety of genres. I haven't read a single one of these, though obviously some have crossed my radar in the past. I'll have to take a look at the ones I'm unfamiliar with, or hadn't thought to add to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteThey're all books I enjoyed reading and would recommend. :)
