Happy March!
For such a short month, February sure seemed long. And so cold! I'm glad it's finally March, though March is a month that desperately needs some more holidays in it. Especially if they're going to make us change our clocks again. Couldn't they at least give us an extra day off, too? I'm mostly hoping for some warmer weather and blue skies this month. What are you hoping March brings?
For laughs:
(Thank you, John Atkinson!)
Just checked out of the library:
The Last Orphan by Gregg Hurwitz
Gallowglass by S.J. Morden
Eclipse the Moon by Jessie Mihalik
Storing Up Trouble by Jen Turano
The Last Mile by Kat Martin
The Hope of Azure Springs by Rebecca Fordham
The Measure by Nikki Erlick
The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks by Shauna Robinson
The Missing Treasures of Amy Ashton by Eleanor Ray
By the Book by Jasmine Guillory
(And now that I've once again checked out too many books, I'll probably have four more holds come in all at once, because that always seems to happen with my library reading. But putting holds on at the library is one of my bookish addictions. And there are books coming out that I can't wait to read...hence my too long hold list.)
Thought for the month:
Great post, Lark. I like 'Sassy best friends' yak yak yak yak. LOL! And 'Oddly invested strangers'. Too funny. Yeah, I have 8 books out of the library at the moment. Luckily, I can't reserve any right now as my local library is shut for renovations. I had to go and do an arranged collect for my final reserved book on Thursday. So I knocked on the door and a painter and decorator answered the door. I thought, 'Wut? Is 'he' going to go and fetch my book for me?' When a librarian finally came I had to try very hard not to giggle. :-D For March I would a family problem to improve, for it to be a bit warmer, and to find some really good books to read. Happy March, Lark!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry your library is closed for renovations! I hated when they closed my library several years ago for remodeling. But then I am a library addict. ;D And I hope and pray your family issue improves this month!
DeleteFebruary felt way too long over here too, but the summery days helped. Clock changes will be upon us soon too (damn) And after a long LONG day, your romantic essentials just made me laugh out loud (thank you!)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I was able to make you laugh with that one! :D John Atkinson always brightens my days.
DeleteI like your 'thought for the month', Lark. I totally understand about the library and the hold list. It's a desperate need of mine to have a jillion holds - all the time. Ha!
ReplyDelete:D I'm glad I'm not the only one.
DeleteI agree to March needing some holidays! It's a long gap between Presidents Day in February and Memorial Day in May. Gah! Love to rom-com essentials. lol
ReplyDeleteWe really need to invent a holiday in March! Because it is way too long between Presidents' Day and Memorial Day.
DeleteLove the rom-com essentials. It's so funny because it's true, lol. February felt really long for me too. But, so far, March is zooming by. I can't believe it's already March 5! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's already March 5th either! Maybe that's a good sign for the rest of the month.
DeleteWell, in Texas, we have Texas Independence Day on March 2 which helps a little. And of course my family has my husband's birthday on March 26 which we celebrate as a holiday!
ReplyDeleteLove the Rom-Com Essentials. John Atkinson got it just right!
I wish we had some family birthdays in March, but ours all lump up in January, April and September. Except for mine, which is in August. I'm the outlier. :D
DeleteI hope your library picks are all good. :) And I love that Rom com Essential. So true! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope my library books end up being good, too...and that I have time to read them all. ;D
DeleteI am in total agreement with March needing more holidays in it. For once I am taking time off in March so I can spend spring break with my daughter later this month. We have a fun little trip planned. I am very much looking forward to the time off. And that's right . . . we have to change the clocks this month. Ugh. I hope you enjoy your books and your week! Take care.
ReplyDeleteYay for having a fun trip to look forward to! I hope you and your daughter have a wonderful time. :D
DeleteMarch this year means staying out of the inclement weather and doing puzzles among other things. Enjoy the library books. I have a few on Libby that I need to get to.
ReplyDeleteI like doing puzzles, too! :D
DeleteThe Khalil Gibran is great (and timely!) John Atkinson is spot on as always.
ReplyDeleteI really love that Khalil Gibran quote. :D
DeleteI love the romcom essentials! So funny and so true. I read The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks and enjoyed it very much.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading The Bannd Bookshop. It's another book for Susan's Bookish Books reading challenge. :D
DeleteI used to love the cold months and now I just it to warm up a little.
ReplyDeleteI do, too! And I'm so tired of shoveling snow. We got six more inches of the white stuff this morning. Ugh.
DeleteHa! The Rom-Com essentials are so true. Oddly invested strangers is my fav. I'm hoping for some warmer temps so the snow melts! Oooh, The Last Orphan! Enjoy. Isn't that the way with library lends? Mine always come at the same time, too. And also when I have a bunch of review books due, as well. :)
ReplyDeleteBooks always seem to bunch up...and never at convenient times. ;D
DeleteI love the Rom-Com comic! So terrifically accurate. :) Wow, that's a lot of library books. I'm reading The Measure with my book group later this year, will be interested to hear what you think of it. I listened to the audiobook of By the Book last year, and thought it was really fun. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited the read By the Book, and The Measure looks very interesting!
DeleteToo funny on the rom-com essentials! The disastrous meet up usually makes me cringe a bit with second hand embarrassment! So many great books! It's hard not to get too many books at the library - but better the library than the bookstore I guess!
ReplyDeleteThe library is certainly lots cheaper than the bookstore! I'd never be able to read as many books as I do if I had to buy them all.
DeleteLark, Ugh, I totally forgot about time change! Yes, March always SEEMS like the longest month because there are no holidays we get a break for. Sigh. I see you got a Jen Turano out from the library, it's about time for me to read another one of hers too :)
ReplyDeleteI do love Turano's books. She has a new one out that looks really good. :D
DeleteIs the time change in March? Yuck! I love loading up on books (and puzzles) at the library!
ReplyDeleteMy library has started a puzzle exchange which is kind of fun. And if everyone feels the same way about the time change, why are we all still doing it?!?
DeleteI had forgotten about Daylight Savings Time until you mentioned it. I hate the time change. John Atkinson's cartoons are great!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to sun in my backyard, which just started happening in the end of February, due to the orientation of my home. And warmer days, if only a bit.
I hate the time change, too! Why do we still do it?
DeleteHappy March, Lark. I absolutely love the cartoon. I wish John Atkinson would publish a book about his "Wrong Hands".
ReplyDeleteI wish he would, too. I would totally buy a copy!
DeleteI'm sure it would be a bestseller.
DeleteThat comic made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteWe SHOULD get a day off for daylight savings. That is genius idea, except they always happen on a Sunday, but we could get Monday off maybe.
Yes! I'm all for getting a Monday off; it would almost make up for me having to change my clocks and lose an hour of sleep. Almost.
DeleteI agree! We should get a day off for Daylight Savings or they should just stop doing it. ;) Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI would totally vote to do away with Daylight Savings time!
DeleteOur library has a deadline for holding books (we've gotta pay for reserving books. Hmph!) and we still have to pay for the reservation fee even if we didn't collect it. I rarely use this service unless I want to read a book badly. :p
ReplyDeleteThat's sad. Putting books on hold at my library is totally free.... even if you forget to come in and check them out. Which I never do, but still...
DeleteThat rom-com essentials is so funny and spot-on! And, great thoughts for March. I'm with you February seemed like such a long month but now March seems to be flying by!
ReplyDeleteMarch is flying by! And John Atkinson always makes me laugh. :D
