The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh
Getting hit by a
car has Kelsey rethinking
her entire life.
Fiction .... 370 pages .... 4.5/5 stars.
(A charming novel about friendship, second chances, journeys, hope, romance, and not letting fear keep you from choosing life.)
Grim and Bear It by Juliette Cross
Aura witch invites
Grim necromancer to join
romance book club ... love follows.
Paranormal romance .... 382 pages .... 3.5/5 stars.
(Clara and Henry were a very cute couple, but there's lots of language and several steamy sex scenes, so beware if that's not your thing.)
The Teacher by Freida McFadden
A troubled student.
Married tachers. Obsession,
love, hate, sex, and death.
Thriller.... 379 pages .... 3/5 stars.
(Fast-paced, with lots of unexpected twists and turns. But very unlikable characters.)
My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine
Amelia knows taxes, but
vampires? Fake dating Reggie is one
surprise after another.
Romance .... 389 pages .... 4/5 stars.
(So cute & funny! I especially loved Reggie's bullet journal excerpts.)
Happy Reading!

ReplyDeleteHi, Cindy! :D
DeleteThese mini-reviews are so engaging and to the point! Each one gives just enough to spark interest, and I’m especially intrigued by My Vampire Plus-One—who could resist a vampire with a bullet journal? Happy weekend. I hope it’s a happy one for you. I’ve just posted something new, and I'd love to hear what you think. Please give it a read! https://www.melodyjacob.com/2024/10/the-social-media-trap-of-judging-relationships-by-one-sided-narratives.html

DeleteIt seems like everyone I know has been raving about McFadden's books. I've read one and it was...underwhelming. Even though I love thrillers, I'm not sure hers are for me.
ReplyDeleteI've read three of her books now, one I really liked, and two that I didn't. So she's a mixed bag for sure.
DeleteI do enjoy your haiku reviews, Lark. I wish I had talent like that. I enjoyed The Summer of Yes.
ReplyDeleteCourtney Walsh has become a favorite author of mine. I really enjoy her books and how she combines romance and humor so well. :D
DeleteI've heard great things about Frieda McFadden and My Vampire Plus One. It sounds like I need to add The Summer of Yes to my TBR as well!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a fun read, but then I love stories about unexpected friendships and road trips and second chances.
DeleteReggie's bullet journal was funny! I'd like to try McFadden but I don't like it when there's a bunch of unlikeable characters. I need at least one I can root for! :)
ReplyDeleteOf the three McFadden books that I've read, The Locked Door was my favorite.
