From newly published books to the classics, mysteries and romance, science fiction, young adult, fantasy and suspense, I'd say 2016 was a good reading year for me. I had a lot of fun discovering new authors and revisiting favorite ones. And I already have a long list of books I can't wait to read next year.
Happy 2016!
(And Happy Reading.)
2016 was a good year for books! I am happy you were also able to finish your challenges, well done.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a good 2017, with lots of amazing books and new finds :-)
Kind regards,
Thank you so much! I hope you find lots of good books to read in 2017, too...and be sure to post about them so I can add them to my list. :D
DeleteI did really well reading books of my TBR shelf in 2016. Of course I discovered new books too but hey, it's all good.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I need to do better with my TBR shelf in 2017. After all, I bought the books in the first place because I wanted to read them, right? So I should probably read them. :)
DeleteI'm glad this has been a good reading year for you! I enjoyed Daisy in Chains, but it isn't one of my favourite Sharon Bolton books. My expectations were probably too high as well.
ReplyDeleteI just didn't think it was as good as her other books. And I had a hard time connecting to either of her main characters.
DeleteLooks like you've a great reading year, Lark. I'm currently compiling my list and will post mine soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to check it out! :)
DeleteI love year end stats! Thanks for sharing. I read Uprooted in 2016 as well and really liked it. I am curious about trying Novik’s Temeraire series but haven’t taken the plunge yet.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any other of Novik's books either, but after reading Uprooted I'm tempted. If you do try her Temeraire series, let me know how you like it!
DeleteLeonard sounds like a fantastic book. I should get that for my boyfriend for his birthday. But then, he rarely has time to read!
ReplyDeleteIf he likes Star Trek he might make time for this book because not only is it about Leonard Nimoy, but it's written by William Shatner...and that's a great combination!
DeleteOh, I need the Leonard Cohen book! I really liked Uprooted and enjoyed the first book in the Temeraire series, but began losing interest in them. Uprooted is so much more! Daisy in Chains was not my favorite Bolton either, but I liked the first book with John Charming and need to follow up on that series. :)
ReplyDeleteThe second book in the Charming series isn't my favorite, but I really liked books #3 and #4...and am looking forward to the release of #5 this April. :)
DeleteLooks like you had a really good year! Uprooted was so gorgeous. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Leonard; it's on my list to listen to this year. And Charming is on my to-read list, as is A Darker Shade of Magic (which I actually started, but had to put aside for other books and never got back to it before it went back to the library. But I have a Kindle copy now.) I look forward to delving into those!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy them all! I know I did. :)
DeleteI'm really looking forward to reading Uprooted this year. I am glad to see it on your top five list! I did a top five list too which will post tonight/tomorrow. I'm always behind . . . That's too bad about Daisy in Chains. I've only read one of Bolton's books which I loved. I need to read more of her books.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing what you read in 2017, Lark!
Thanks! And right back at you! I've added quite a few titles to my To Read list from reading your blog, and am counting on adding even more this year. :)
DeleteI was a little disappointed in DAISY IN CHAINS, too. It's not Bolton's best, that's for sure. The subject matter made it a tough read, although I guess that's par for the course with Bolton -- this one just disturbed me more than some of her others.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't love this one. :)
