The Devil's Bones (#3) by Jefferson Bass
How do bodies burn?
Bill's investigating when an
old enemy returns.
Mystery .... 309 pages .... 4/5 stars.
(As good as Carved in Bone (#1) and Flesh and Bone (#2).)
The Haunting of Henderson Close by Catherine Cavendish
Ghosts, time slips, ancient
evil loosed -- strange things are afoot
in this old Edinburgh close.
Supernatural/horror .... 229 pages .... 3/5 stars.
Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center
Firefighting is her
first and only love .... until
she meets the Rookie.
Contemporary romance .... 310 pages .... 4.5/5 stars.
(Even better than Center's Happiness for Beginners.)
The Werewolf Dates the Deputy by Kristen Painter
Jenna and Titus
must fight off a love spell and
a wraith--what a week!
Supernatural romance .... 325 pages .... 4/5 stars.
(The relationship between these two characters and their humorous exchanges totally made me smile!)
Happy Reading!
Love these! The Werewolf Dates the Deputy sounds like so much fun! :)
ReplyDeletePainter's whole Nocturne Falls series has been a lot of fun. :D
DeleteThings You Save in a Fire is on my TBr. I am so glad you enjoyed it. The Werewolf Dates the Deputy sounds like a fun read. So many great books! I am glad you've been enjoying your reading.
ReplyDeleteI got lucky with these four books. :D
DeleteAh, my favorite of your regular posts. Well done, as usual.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sam! I appreciate your kind words. :)
DeleteI always love your Haiku Reviews. The Haunting of Henderson Close sounded interesting until I saw it was horror. (shudders) Nope!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's not super scary and horror-ific, but it does have its moments.
DeleteGreat Haiku reviews. I'm happy to see that the Katherine Center book got a high score. I've got that one on my list to read.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good one! :D
DeleteOh, I loved Things You Save in a Fire so much! The audio was fantastic, narrated by Therese Plummer one of my all-time fav performers. Much better than Happiness For Beginners! The romance was completely frustrating for me.
ReplyDeleteThings You Save in a Fire is such a good read. I'm looking forward to reading What You Wish For next. :)
DeleteLove the sound of Haunting! Spooky feels... :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the time of year for spooky reads, isn't it?
DeleteI really enjoyed reading Things You Save in a Fire! Gotta check out more of Katherine Center's books. And those other books you read sound interesting too!
ReplyDeleteI just checked out Center's latest book, What You Wish For. It sounds really good, too. :)
DeleteI want to read Things You Save in a Fire. Seems like everyone who has read it, loved it!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very well-written, and heart-warming, too.
DeleteBrilliant, a haiku review is the way to go!
ReplyDelete:D It's cause I'm a little lazy when it comes to writing real reviews.
DeleteI cannot go past a title like The Werewolf Dates the Deputy, and that lovely haiku!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun book--a little romance, a little magic, some sword fighting. :)
DeleteCenter is great, isn't she? I've loved both of the books I've read by her.
ReplyDeleteShe is a good author! I just checked out her latest book What You Wish For and am excited to read it. :)
DeleteI've read several of the Jefferson Bass books, but at this point I'm so out of order on them all. I'm glad to see you enjoyed this one!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a series where you can read the books out of order and not feel too lost. :)
DeleteIt's always amusing to me to read your haiku reviews. The werewolf dates the deputy sounds like fun, I might try that one.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
Thanks, Lissa! I always appreciate your comments. :)
DeleteMaking haikus for brief reviews is a neat idea- one I haven't seen before! I like 'em. I've been wanting to read Things You Save in a Fire myself... . .
ReplyDeleteThanks! And I think you'd really like Things You Save in a Fire. :)
DeleteI'm glad you've been enjoying your reading! I've lost my reading mojo a bit this week and need to get it back!
ReplyDeleteI hit a stretch at the end of August where nothing looked good and I didn't want to read anything, but things have returned to reading normal now, so that's a good thing. :) Hope you get your reading mojo back soon!
DeleteI never read Happiness is for Beginners. That's the hiking one, right? If so, did you know her What You Wish For is related to it? I also enjoyed Things You Save in a Fire. How to Walk Away is still my favorite, though.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that What You Wish For is related to Happiness for Beginners. That makes me want to read it even more. And I'll have to look for How to Walk AWay. :D
