Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme: Reasons Why I Love Reading!
I didn't try to rank my reasons in any kind of order. And I didn't count them up either. But here they are....some of the reasons why I love to read:
Reading is Magic!
I can experience love, loss, laughter, mystery, suspense, and adventure all in the pages of a book.
Reading lets me escape reality for awhile, and makes having to wait in long lines, or at the doctor's office, or in airports more bearable.
Reading allows me to travel around the world, back in time, to the future, and to imaginary and magical worlds like Narnia and Oz.
Reading expands my vocabulary, introduces me to new thoughts and ideas, and makes me smarter.
I meet the most interesting people in books.
Reading enriches my life.
I love the connections I make with other people who also love to read, especially when we love the same books.
As C.S. Lewis once said, "I read to know that I'm not alone."
Aren't books the best?
Happy Reading!
Ooh, expanding vocabulary is a good answer!

Thanks, Lydia! :)
DeleteThose are all great reasons. I agree with all of them and I love the C.S. Lewis quote!
ReplyDeleteThat C.S. Lewis quote is one of my favorites. :)
DeleteThose are really good reasons. Books are good for every reason and every season. I think I would like the world less if books don't exist.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I know I would like the world less if there were no books in it!
DeleteA huge YES to all of these! Expanding your vocabulary is a great reason that I haven't seen mentioned yet.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
I've always liked words, and so many authors use them so well. :)
DeleteBooks are the best and those are all wonderful reasons. I can only second them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dorothy! :D
DeleteTruth...you just spoke volumes of truth about reading and readers. I can't imagine ever living without having three or four books going at once. What in the world do non-readers do all day long?
ReplyDeleteI don't know what they do! There's certainly not that much to watch that's good on TV. Books are what keep me sane.
DeleteI think reading makes us more well-rounded as people, able to empathize with others and relish new experiences. My TTT is off-topic this week. Please visit anyway?!
ReplyDeleteYes! I totally agree with that.
DeleteLove your reasons! Yes, all the emotions that books can evoke in us- it's wild, isn't it? How a story can do that. and other worlds too- i smiled at the mention of Narnia- so true. :)
ReplyDeleteHow sad would life be if we never got to read about places like Narnia?
DeleteAll of those! Also, people who read are 'different' somehow. They get stuff. Sometimes I say something to someone about something I read and they look at me like I've got two heads... LOL
ReplyDeleteI know I used to get strange looks in high school whenever I admitted I liked to read. But I also got better grades than those who didn't...so there you go. ;D
DeleteI agree with all of these and I especially agree with the second one! Great list.
ReplyDeleteBooks bring so much to my life! I don't know what I'd do without them. Thanks for commenting. :)
DeleteI agree with all of those. I like the escape I get from reading. I can just lose myself for a couple of hours.
ReplyDeleteThe escape you get when reading is huge! I agree. :)
DeleteI'm nodding along as I read your list. Agree with all of these!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Iliana! I figure most of us book bloggers feel the same way about reading. :)
DeleteI like #5. This is a great list!
ReplyDeleteHere's my list!
Thanks! :D
DeleteI agree--reading is magic!
ReplyDeleteHere is my TTT post: https://readbakecreate.com/?p=468
It makes so many things in life better! And if you have a library card it's even free. :) Thanks for commenting!
DeleteAwesome list, Lark. I didn't even think about the expanding the vocabulary aspect, but that is so true.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.
:D Your list was awesome. Thanks for commenting back.
DeleteYes! To all of the above. I don't feel like I'm wasting time waiting, commuting, and other drudgeries when I get to read while doing them! I never feel alone when I read either! Lovely list, LarK! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rachel! Books make even the worst wait better.
DeleteYes! Absolutely, yes to all of these! I completely agree. You summed up my thoughts perfectly! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ashley! I'm not surprised we feel the same way about books and reading. :)
DeleteYes, books are the best. And, yes, books, enrich my life!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I'd do without good books in my life!
DeleteYours is like a poem, love it! The first reason is so good "reading is magic" - so true.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D I tried to have fun with this one.
DeleteBig yes to making connections with others through books. Especially when you share a love of a favorite book. :)
ReplyDeleteConnecting with people through books is the best! :) Thanks for commenting. :)
DeleteYou're right, you just can't "rank" these reasons. But I do have a favorite -- the C.S. Lewis quote which is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a great quote? I love it. :)
DeleteGreat reasons, Lark! I love how so many of these are coming up on list after list... but also how each person has an individual "take". I particularly love your inclusion of the C. S. Lewis quote, and your point about how reading forges connections with others who share similar taste in books.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how so many of us read for so many of the same reasons. That's what I love about bookish people! :D
DeleteI find that my reason for reading really depends on the day and my mood, which is exactly why I love reading. Books can be so versatile!
ReplyDeleteBooks are very versatile...there's one for every mood and every situation and every season in your life. :)
DeleteSo many great reasons here and I love the way you presented them. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D
DeleteI agree one hundred percent with all your reasons! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's 'cause you love reading, too!
DeleteTotally agree with all your reasons, Lark! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melody! :)
DeleteI agree with this 100%!
