You Belong Here Now by Dianna Rostad
Three New York orphans
find a new home and family
on a Montana ranch.
Historical fiction .... 339 pages .... 3/5 stars.
(An uneven read for me; while I liked the three orphans, I found parts of the plot too unbelievable and over-the-top.)
Striking Range (Timber Creek K-9 Mystery, #7) by Margaret Mizushima
Murder, deadly drugs,
and a missing baby alarm
Mattie and Cole.
Mystery .... 275 pages .... 4/5 stars.
(Another good one in this series. Mattie's K-9 partner, Robo, is so great; plus, there are puppies!)
Not You Again by Terri Osburn
Five days. Four blind dates.
Three disasters. And one
second chance at love.
Contemporary romance .... 239 pages .... 3.5/5 stars.
(The only problem with this humorous romance is that it's too short, which made the ending feel rushed; I wanted more of Jacob's and Becca's story.)
Happy Reading!
Yay for Haiku Reviews!
ReplyDelete:D You're so sweet!
DeleteI always enjoy your haikus.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. :)
DeleteI love your haikus.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteBasho would be jealous, lol...
ReplyDeleteI wish! ;D
DeleteNicely done, as always. I read that first one, and I think your review is a good as any I've seen. Seriously. That book was all over the place and had lots of stereotypical characters.
ReplyDeleteAnd certain aspects of the plot...like the police in NYC sending out reports on the oldest orphan to other towns...felt completely unrealistic to me. They wouldn't have done that back then!
DeleteIt's too bad about the first one--from the description that appeals to me.
ReplyDeleteLove the haiku reviews, as always!
Maybe the things that bugged me about You Belong Here Now wouldn't bother you. There were just a few plot points in regards to the orphans that felt too unrealistic to me; otherwise it's a cute story.
DeleteI love your haiku reviews! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ashley! :D
DeleteYour Haikus are always so succinct and tell me all I want to know. So clever.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cath! Some books are easier to "haiku" than others.
DeleteThat Timber creek series looks like a good one.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a good series! I've loved all the books in it.
DeleteI always enjoy your haiku reviews. Not You Again sounds really good. That's a shame it feels a little too short though.
ReplyDeleteI just felt like the author rushed the ending, which made it less satisfying even though it was still a happy one.
DeleteGreat reviews, it's amazing how much information I get about a book from just a few words!
ReplyDeletePicking just the right words can be tricky, but it's a lot of fun doing it.
DeleteLooks like you found a few good books.
ReplyDeleteYeah! :)
DeleteGreat reviews! Striking Range and Not You Again sound good! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThey're both good reads. :)
DeleteI've seen Striking Range around and wanted to try the series. Puppies?! Must get to it then! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a series I've really enjoyed. Mattie and her dog Robo are very fun characters, and there's mystery and a little romance, too.
DeletePuppies yea!!! I will take a look at Striking Range, it draws my attention for sure.
ReplyDeleteLovely short and sweet reviews. I like that!
Elza Reads
Thank you, Elza! :)
DeleteThose puppies were one of the best things about Striking Range!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I loved reading about them. :D
DeleteYou Belong Here Now by Dianna Rostad seems lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteThere were several things I did like about it. It just wasn't quite as good as I hoped it would be.
DeleteYour haiku reviews are the best! I was a little disappointed in YOU BELONG HERE NOW too, but I liked it overall. I'm fascinated by the history of orphanages/foster care/adoption.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan! I find stories about orphan trains especially fascinating myself. :)
DeleteNot You Again sounds like a fun romance. I need to do some quick reviews if I'm ever going to catch up. I still haven't reviewed books I read in the Spring. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteYou need to do one post with a list of "books I loved" where you can catch up, and recommend all those books you've without having to write a review for each one.
