I already posted my favorite romance reads of this past year. Here are the rest: 12 Favorite 5-Star Reads of 2024. (Because 10 is never enough.)
The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer
I posted about most of these books on my blog, so you can check out my reviews if you want to know more about any of them. Otherwise, know that they are all excellent reads. And I loved all of them. Here's hoping I find just as many 5-star reads in 2025.
Happy Reading!
Non ho avuto il piacere di leggere nessuno di questi libri.
ReplyDeleteMa c'è ne sono così tanti che a volte è difficile fare una scelta e quindi le recensioni degli altri vengono sempre in aiuto
There are so many good books out there it's impossible to read them all. It always makes me wish I had more time for reading.
DeleteThat looks like a great list. I haven't read any of them, but would like to read The Wishing Game.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed that one a lot. :D
DeleteA list full of books I haven't read! Except for Holmes on the Range, and I always meant to read more of that series.
ReplyDeleteI want to read more in that series next year, too. I did read the second book and liked it. :D
DeleteEven though I didn't read any of these, their covers are interesting. I'm gald your favorite list is long. Any book enjoyed is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
Hi, Lissa! Thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy reading your comments. :D
DeleteNice to see an Alex Kava there. I must get back to Mercy Thompson, my last in that series was River Marked!
ReplyDeleteI love Kava's Ryder Creed mysteries! I just wish she would write them a little faster. And yes, definitely add Mercy Thompson to your list next year. I started rereading the series last year and hope to finish rereading it in 2025. It's just so good. :D
DeleteThinking of you. Have a lovely day.

Thank you, Regine! 💗
DeleteLoved The Boy Who Cried Bear and look forward to the new one in that series that's coming in February. I also have The Wishing Game on my shelf to read. Soon, maybe. Nice list, Lark!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Armstrong's next book! I keep checking my library's catalog to see if they've got it on order yet. :D
DeleteThanks for the list. I haven't read any of these.
ReplyDeleteYou're always reading books I haven't read, too. Occasionally we synch up though, which is always fun. :D
DeleteI haven't read any of these, and didn't even know about half of them! But I'm glad to hear The Blonde Identity was good, since I enjoyed The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year and was thinking of trying The Blonde Identity. And I'll definitely check out The Wishing Game and What You Are Looking For Is In The Library, and possibly Kelley Armstrong's thriller series.
ReplyDeleteI think you would really all of those books! They're so well written and have such great characters. :D
DeleteNice list. Wow you have 2 with hiking themes: the AT trail and the Muir trail, great. I'm also lured by the Japanese author's novel about the library ... with the cat of course. Looks good.
ReplyDeleteI love hiking books! Especially those long trails. And What You Are Looking For is in the Library is such a charming story; I loved it. :D
DeleteGreat list Lark. I've been wanting to read The Unlikely Thru-Hiker. He sounds like me, someone who has no experience hiking and yet that didn't stop him hiking the Appalachian trail. I am waiting for it to come down in price on kindle but if it doesn't I'll pick up a copy anyway.
ReplyDeleteI love books about people hiking the Appalachian Trail...probably because it's something I've always wanted to do. But I'm also not much of a camper/back packer. :D
DeleteThe Boy who cried bear? I see it's a Kelley Armstrong book, so gonna pick that up for sure. What You Are Looking For is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama also sounds very feel-good just by title alone.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great recs, and wish you a very happy new year 2025!
The Boy Who Cried Bear is her second book in her Haven's Rock series, so be sure to start with the first one! And I loved What You Are Looking For is in the Library. It's so good. :D
DeleteGreat list, Lark! I have that Susan May Warren book series in my library right now, and it stays checked out. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI don't read a ton of her books, but I really loved One Last Shot. :D
DeleteWinter Lost, The Boy Who Cried Bear, and Lone Wolf are all on my favorites list, too! I've only posted mystery/thriller so far though. I'll be posting my favorite romances and fantasy books later this week (I hope!).
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your lists of favorite romances and fantasies! I'm sure I'll be adding to my TBR list afterwards. :D
DeleteI loved The Wishing Game, and it makes me so happy whenever I see someone give a shout-out to the Mercy series! I can't wait to get to the Haven's Rock books too... but have a lot of the Rockton series yet to read first. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteMercy and Adam are the best! Enjoy reading the last of the Rockton books; they're so good. And Happy New Year back! :D
DeleteI really want to start the Kelley Armstrong series!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good one. I highly recommend it!
DeleteThis is such a great variety!
ReplyDeleteI like to read wide and I love everything from sci fi to nonfiction to thrillers to romance, so.... ;D
DeleteI agree that 10 isn't enough. I will be reading more by Kelley Armstrong. I still haven't finished the first series though. I will be reading What You Are Looking For is in the Library sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteThat book was such a delightful read. I really loved it. And you can't go wrong with Kelley Armstrong! :D
DeleteI haven't read any of these but I remember when you first mentioned What You Are Looking For Is In The Library and I thought that's the title for me!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a charming book! I hope you get a chance to check it out.
DeleteI love The Blonde Identity. It's so fun! I have The Wishing Game on my TBR list so I'm glad to see it made your top favorites! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Wishing Game was great! I loved the main characters so much.
DeleteThe Wishing Game was good! I listened to it in early December and really enjoyed it. I hope you have an amazing 2025! Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
DeleteI absolutely adored What You are Looking For is in the Library. I have the 2nd book in the Casey Duncan series from Armstrong to read this month. I really want to get caught up on her books. I see several other books I need to add to my TBR!
ReplyDeleteI love Casey and Eric! And Rockton is such a strange and compelling setting. I recommend that whole series!
DeleteNo, 10 is not enough :) I could have easily listed 30 or so...
ReplyDeleteMe, too! I felt like I was showing great restraint only listing 12. ;D
DeleteThat Kelley Armstrong book is from a series I have yet to start. Which is odd because I have read so many of her books. I need to rectify that in 2025. I am also curious about Holmes on the Range. What an interesting premise. You reminded me I always meant to read Crow Talk. Need to go request it on Libby now!
ReplyDeleteCrow Talk is a charming novel. And I loved cowboys acting like detectives in Holmes on the Range. And you will love Armstrong's Haven's Rock series...you just have to have read her Rockton series first. :D
DeleteI'm so happy that Holmes on the Range made your list! I only have Midnight Creed left to read and I'll finally be caught up with the Ryder Creed series. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteIt's bittersweet because once you've finished them all then you have to wait like the rest of us for the next book...and it always feels much too long to me. ;D
