Did you hear the sad news? No more PEEPS until next Easter. The company says it won't be producing any marshmallow treats for Halloween or Christmas this year. Just another reason 2021 can't come soon enough!
At least there are a few things out there that still make me smile.
Like this John Atkinson cartoon:
And check out these two book covers.
Can you believe how similar they are?
It's crazy.
I wonder what the authors would think if they saw their two books side by side on the bookstore shelf.
Anyway....
Welcome to October!
I hope everyone is having an awesome week....
and Happy Reading!
I've read the first book of that series by Kelley Armstrong but haven't got to the rest. It's definitely a series worth reading.
ReplyDeleteIndeed some covers look so similar that I often think they're the same book! Well, you can say that all great artists' mind think alike! ;)
Or they just have one artist doing all the book covers, so he keeps repeating what he's already done. ;D
DeleteI've recently the 6th book in the Rockton series. I like this series, and I like the way Armstrong can move so easily from genre to genre.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sign of a really good writer! And I'm excited to read the rest of the Rockton series. :)
DeleteI'll bet there's not very many readers of this blog who have a bookshelf like that--lots of already read books around here. (I'm going to reread that one someday. Really!)
ReplyDeleteMy shelves are 90% books I've read, and only about 10% that I haven't read yet. :)
DeleteYou're doing better than me then...I'm running about 50/50.
DeleteI was just looking at that Kelley Armstrong book, lol. The series sounds so good! :)
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a good mystery. And such an interesting little town they've got going up there!
DeleteI wish we got Peeps in the UK but the Creme Eggs we get instead make up for it!
ReplyDeleteThe Cadbury ones? Because I LOVE those! :D
DeleteI'm now caught up on the Armstrong series and waiting for #6 early next year. You've got time to get to them all before then. Good luck! LOL
ReplyDeleteLucky that you're all caught up! I'm reading as fast as I can, but other books keep getting in the way. ;D
DeleteI need to get back to the Rockton series, read book 1 and have not gone back to it. So many books...
ReplyDeleteThere are so many books! I'm always behind in something. :)
DeleteI am so behind on my Kelley Armstrong reading. I love her books. I haven't read that particular series yet. Sad news about the peeps. :-( My brother and daughter will be very disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI'm quick becoming a Kelley Armstrong fan. :)
DeleteThe peep thing has really bummed me out. 2020 is the absolute worst.
ReplyDelete2020 completely sucks. I hate it!
DeleteI LOVE the Casey Duncan/Rockton series! I'm thrilled you read the first book and I hope you continue with the series! It's one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know about Peeps! Bummer. :(
I've already checked out the 2nd book in the Rockton series, and I hope to read the rest this year! :)
DeleteOoh City of the Lost- I love that series! Glad you enjoyed it :)
ReplyDeleteIt was so good! I need to hurry and read the other books now before the next one comes out. :)
DeleteI did hear that Peeps won't be around until Easter. I like them too. Just have to get more at Easter.
ReplyDeleteAt least they haven't gone out of business completely. That's one good thing, I guess. :)
DeleteThat bookshelf cartoon is 100000% accurate 😉😉 I noticed a lot of historical novels set in Paris this winter, and usually with a woman on the cover like these two. When did Paris in WW2 get so popular?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea! But books like that are everywhere.
DeleteThe Armstrong series is good, isn't it? I'm a few books behind, but I'm enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteLove the bookshelf cartoon. The "Just for Show" label made me laugh. I've got a few of those on my shelves for sure. Ha ha!
:D Yeah, I think I have a few books like that on my shelf, too.
DeleteCity Of The Lost is one of the many on my ever increasing TBR that I need to get on with. Maybe next year!
ReplyDelete:D I say that about a lot of books lately.
DeleteI have seen so many similar covers lately - half the time I think publishers are trying to cash in on the similarity and half the time I think they just have no new ideas.
ReplyDeleteIt's probably a combination of the two! :)
DeleteI happen to love Peeps so that news was just the icing on a crap cake. I keep hoping 2021 will be better.
ReplyDeleteIcing on the crap cake! LOL. Couldn't have phrased it better. :D
DeleteI find it so interesting when there are trends in book covers like that. Fascinating, really.
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoon. I have too copies of War & Peace on my bookshelf...but I do plan to read them someday! :D
I have no copies of War & Peace...and I don't plan on ever reading it. :D
DeleteWow - those covers are very similar!! I've seen City of the Lost around - I'm glad to hear it is a great read! I'm adding it to my TBR.
ReplyDeleteI really liked City of the Lost...and I just finished reading the second book in the series which was every bit as good. :)
DeleteAh Peeps... Loved those as a kid. This year does need to just go away right.
ReplyDeleteIt does need to go away! I'm so sick of it. :)
