Randomness...

I recently finished reading The Poet by Michael Connelly. This is the first book in Connelly's series that centers around Jack McEvoy, a news reporter who's beat is death. I could tell Connelly was writing from a lot of experience as someone who made a living writing for a newspaper for so many years because McEvoy felt very authentic. And I liked him. The case involving the supposed suicide of his brother was compelling, too. I look forward to reading the next Jack McEvoy book. (And the next Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller books, too.)

Here's my latest favorite cartoon from John Atkinson @ Wrong Hands.

Isn't this great?
It totally made me laugh.

So, I've never been a huge fan of pretzels, but I tried these Dot's Homestyle Pretzels the other day, and they are my new favorite snack! They're so yummy. And so addictive. I can't stop eating them. Which is bad. But they're just so good.

My latest library haul:

1. Deception Cove by Owen Laukkanen
2 Return to the Center of the Earth by Greig Beck
3. Fallen by Linda Castillo
4. Miss Pym Disposes by Josephine Tey
5. A Dark Lure by Loreth Anne White
6. You're So Dead by Ash Parsons
7. The Book Collectors by Delphine Minoui
8. On Basilisk Station by David Weber

The free book I just won from Goodreads:
(Doesn't it look like a fun holiday romance?)

And my latest fun bookish tee:

Have a great week...and Happy Reading!

  1. There are so many really great mystery series out there right now. I haven't read Michael Connelly but I did read the first book in Linda Castillo's Kate Burkholder series and enjoyed it alot. Santa's Sweetheart reminded me of the Regency Christmas Romance series. 4 or 5 short stories by different Regency romance writers collected each year in one book that would be published around October. The stories were quite good and it definitely put me in the mood for Christmas.

    1. I don't read a lot of short stories, but I do always enjoy when it's a collection of romance stories, especially with a Christmas theme! And Linda Castillo's Kate Burkholder books are so good. I hope you get a chance to read more of them.

  2. I keep saying I want to try the Jack McAvoy series...and still haven't. The tee shirt is SO appropriate!

  6. Love that cartoon and the t-shirt. I've been a Connelly fan for many years and have read all the Bosch books plus the one you mention. I have to admit I've kind of gone off him recently but he is a very talented writer.

  8. I haven't read Connelly's McEvoy books yet, but I suspect that someone of his talent is never really going to disappoint me. The only one of his books I didn't much care for was the NF one he wrote about his newspaper days...found it very repetitive and boring, honestly.

Love the Oxymoron chart...had to read and think about each and every one of those. Very clever. Too...we love those pretzels here, too. A friend turned us on to them a few weeks ago.

The only of your new library books I'm familiar with is The Book Collectors. That one is particularly inspiring for book lovers, I think.

  20. Great idea to write a post, I must remember that for the next time. There are so many "random" thinks that we con't want to write a whole review about.

Absolutely love the oxymoron library and the t-shirt, of course.

Thanks for visiting my TTT earlier.

  21. 😆 The oxymoron library cracked me up so much! I like Connelly — i saw him do an event here and he talked about his life as a journalist, so the authenticity here makes sense — also make me want to read this sooo much!
