Taking a library leave of absence...

Lately my library books have been coming between me and the books that I own. I love going to the library, but always having a stack of library books on hand keeps me from reading anything else. (I blame those pesky due dates.) So, when Lory at The Emerald City Book Review suggested going an entire month without checking out any library books at all I thought it was a great idea.

Check it out! One whole month to read (and re-read) books from my own shelves; one month to whittle away at my TBR pile with no library books getting in the way. What a great way to start the new year. My only problem will be in deciding which of my books to read first. Feel free to join in and enjoy a library-free January.

Happy Reading!

P.S. Thanks Lory!

  1. Good luck - have have a similar objective but I'm taking a slightly different tack - no more books on the library pile for the first three months of the new year!

    1. Wow. That's a good goal. You should get a lot of books from your TBR pile read. :)

  3. I'll also be library-free for the first three months, with the TBR Dare, but I'm also thinking about how to manage my library books better. I'm considering a one-book-at-a-time limit. Good luck with the project. I'll look forward to seeing what you choose from your shelves!

    1. Wow. Three months without going to the library? I'm not sure I could do that. But I do need to figure out how to not check out so many books at a time. Good luck with your three month TBR Dare. It should be fun!

  4. I just found your blog through Lory at The Emerald City Book Reviews. The library "vacation" is a great idea, and I wish I could spend January checking out my own shelves along with you two! I'm already committed to a bunch of ARCs and to the COYER challenge, though. Still, reading my own books as well as more titles of my own choosing is high on my list of goals for 2015.

BTW, I had to check out your blog because we share a name (or in my case, a blogging name.) And having found it, I'll be following you on Bloglovin. Songbirds have to stick together!

    1. Another Lark!! How cool is that? I'm glad you found my blog ... can't wait to check out yours. :) If you can't do a library-free January you can always choose a different month to catch up on reading all the books from your own shelves. Thanks for stopping by!
