Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme: BOOKS SET IN _________. Where you get to pick the place, time period, or setting. I decided to go with one of my most favorite isolated and remote settings: ANTARCTICA. Here are 10 Books that take place in or are about Antarctica.
How the Penguins Saved Veronica by Hazel Prior
The Last Cold Place by Naira de Gracia
Whiteout by Adriana Anders
The Dark by Emma Haughton
My Last Continent by Midge Raymond
South Pole Station by Ashley Shelby
In Cold Pursuit by Sarah Andrews
To the Poles Without a Beard
by Catharine Hartley
Big Dead Place by Nicholas Johnson
Happy Reading!
I tend to prefer books set in the Arctic rather than the Antarctic but am not really too fussy so will look some of these up. I loved How the Penguins Saved Veronica!
ReplyDeleteI think there's a sequel to How the Penguins Saved Veronica. Have you read it?
DeleteNo, I haven't read the sequel but fancy I might have it lurking on my Kindle soemwhere. :-)
DeleteI'm not sure if I've ever read anything set in Antarctica. These books all sound interesting!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a cool remote setting...I love reading about it.
DeleteI like books set in Antarctica too. Think I've read maybe 3 of the ones you listed. Thanks for the others for me to check out!
ReplyDeleteGlad to add to your reading list. ;D
Delete"To the Poles Without a Beard" - what a really intriguing title! Sounds like the perfect book to sit down with a hot cup of cocoa
ReplyDeleteDoesn't that book look like fun? It's one I'd really like to read.
DeleteHappy reading.

It does! I haven't read it yet, but am hoping my library will purchase a copy.
DeleteThe Last Cold Place was such a good read!
ReplyDeleteIt really was! So interesting.
DeleteThis is perfect reading for this hot time of the year here where I live!
ReplyDeleteI think it's hot everywhere! So reading about cold places is a nice escape. :D
DeleteOne of my favorite settings ! I've read two of these (Veronica, South Pole Station), and would love to read more!
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of books out there set in Antarctica to choose from! And if you ever find a really good one, be sure to let me know so I can read it, too. :D
DeleteI like your topic of Antartica this week.
ReplyDeleteThank you. :D
DeleteThese are all new to me so thank you for the list.
ReplyDelete:D Maybe some day you'll check one out.

ReplyDelete:D It's one of my favorite settings to read about.
DeleteThis is a fun list! I'm not sure I've even read a book set in Antarctica, lol. The Dark looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI liked it. There are several other books set in Antarctica with a horror vibe that you'd probably like; it's so remote and isolated it makes a great setting for scarier books.
DeleteBooks set in Antarctica! Good topic for summer, I guess. I could only think of one that I've read, Where Did You Go, Bernadette?
ReplyDeleteI almost put that one on my list!
DeleteI wonder what its like to live in Antartica? A great place to set a novel. The Dark and The Last Cold Place look interesting.
ReplyDeleteThose are both really good books! I loved The Last Cold Place because it's mostly about penguins. :D
DeleteInteresting list. I confess I haven't read any of them.
ReplyDeleteNot an Antarctica fan like me? ;D
DeleteOoh…great choice for a setting and so unique! I haven’t read any of these books, but I love the covers. Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a cool setting. I love to read about it.
DeleteWow, well done, Lark. I doubt I would have found even five books about Antarctica. Great.
