Randomness

I finally got around to watching the first season of Wednesday last month, and I loved it! Especially the clever dialogue and all the quirky characters. It was just so fun.

And I'm very excited that a new season of Tracker starts on Sunday. It's one of my favorite shows. My other favorite? The Amazing Race! I don't always love the teams, but I do love seeing all the places they go.

I'm still DNFing a lot of books. I'm not sure why...maybe because I'm running tired, or feeling more stressed lately. Maybe it's work taking up so much of my free time. Whatever the reason, I'm finding it hard to stick with a book that doesn't instantly pull me in. I don't seem to have any patience for slower starts, so-so plots, or 3-star characters. But I did do a lot of rereading last month because of it. Thank heavens I have so many favorite books sitting on my shelves. I'm hoping to actually finish more books this month; I have a new stack checked out from the library and they all look good. So fingers crossed!

Favorite line from a recent read I did manage to finish: "The next morning, the autumn weather had changed from golden to Gothic." --Julia McKay, Something About September

  1. I think rereading often helps when you're struggling to concentrate on other books. I hope October is a good month for you!

  2. Super excited for the Amazing Race--love to armchair travel with the teams and be grateful that I am not personally trying to do any of those crazy tasks.

I had Wednesday on the short list of what to watch next, and it's still there. Nice to hear that you love it. I still want to watch Tracker. I

We are currently having a lovely gothic day in CO--finally, I can wear leggings again instead of shorts!

  3. Slightest sign of reading blahs and I definitely turn to an old favorite.

That Lucy Maud Montgomery quote is so great.

  4. I have little patience with anything I'd find mildly annoying when I'm stressed or tired. You need a good book to start! I need to catch up with Tracker! I've read a couple of the books and they were better than the TV series!

    1. That's it exactly! And I have been running tired and stressed. So I don't need more stress or annoyance in the books I'm reading. ;D And I do like the Colter Shaw books a lot. Except that last one felt a little too long with too much going on in it.

  5. Yay for Tracker - finally! I've been missing Colter and Russell :) Can't wait to catch up with them. Also, I'm glad you watched Wednesday - it's a fun show. I'm excited for the next season.

I know what you mean about reading. Lately I just can't seem to get stuck in a book and have been rereading or trying to start a new book again and again. It's exhausting. Fingers crossed we both find a great read soon :) Wishing you a great rest of the week!

    1. I hope Russell shows up again, but the way they ended it last season I'm thinking we won't see him again for a long time. I'd rather seen him than Reenie. I don't really like her or her story line. She's kind of annoying imo.

  6. My patience with annoyances has been very low lately so I've wanted to DNF so many books lately. I even DNF'd an old favorite because I realized I just couldn't stand the characters. I haven't watched Tracker yet but it's on my list. I need to simultaneously read more and watch more. Not sure how that's going to work!

    1. I think that sums it up perfectly...I have little patience with annoyances in any part of my life, but especially in a book!

  10. Happy October, Lark! Wednesday is so good, isn't it? Two of my September books were rereads so I'm with you on the rereading. The world is so crazy, I think we all need the comfort of rereading much loved books.

    1. I loved Wednesday! It reminded me of the first seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the humor and witty dialogue. And the world is so crazy right now. Comfort reading is a must.

  11. I have been feeling the same way. Not being able to finish a book. But right now I am reading a book that has gotten me out of my reading slump at least for now. The Daring Ladies of Lowell by Kate Alcott. Historical fiction set in 1832 Lowell MA. Halfway through so I cant vouch for the ending but under 300 pages and gripped me right away. Wonderful in audio

  12. I have been on the struggle bus for months with books, but I think the tide is turning. We also love The Amazing Race and have binged all the seasons. We recently started the first season of The Rookie and are really enjoying it as well. I hope your recent stack of library books are VERY enjoyable!!

  13. I completely understand about your struggle with reading. I’ve been having the same problem. I’ve started so many books this year and given up on them after just a couple of chapters. I haven’t read near as many books as I planned to read this year. 😞

  15. I love the quote about October and completely agree😁 Good luck with your reading, I know when I'm distracted it's so hard to get into a book.

  16. I've been in the same boat with books recently. I just returned from a week long cruise. Usually I'll read multiple books, but I barely made it through one. Nothing was catching my interest.

  19. Hooray for Octobers ... I agree. It's about time for it turning from golden to Gothic, lol. Enjoy your new reads.

  20. I have not had problems with DNFing lately, but I have read about other bloggers having the same problem. I have had a problem with my reading being really slow, so it may be something similar like stress or fatigue. We have had high temperatures here for about a week and that my making things worse.
