"...a life spent reading-that is a good life." -Annie Dillard
Lovely painting and quote. I love Vivien Chien!
I love the quote and picture!
I love the bookish art you post, but I just realized that even back then it must have been considered somewhat out of the ordinary to see a man actually sitting down and reading a book. We are just too few in number...or still foolishly concerned about the "image" it may portray of our maleness. I did often see men at burger places reading while they ate alone, but since COVID-19, I haven't had that experience, so maybe I'm exaggerating some.
You've made me curious how many paintings there are of men reading; I haven't seen very many. But then I haven't really looked.
I made a quick search yesterday, but I didn't come up with any paintings, just lots of photos of men reading and women saying how "sexy" that was to them. That last bit surprised me, I have to admit.
What a great quote, so true.
Love the quote & the picture is fun, too.
I like that she's holding her umbrella. She couldn't wait to sit down to read. :-) Love the quote. Thank you for sharing, Lark!
Beautiful, and that's exactly what a book does for me! :)
Love the painting and what a great quote! There really is nothing like that feeling. :)
I always look forward to these posts. Such a beautiful painting and great quote.
Love the parasol. She is ready to embark on a mental journey for sure!
Love that quote!!!
I love it! This pictures makes me wonder . . . is she waiting to go somewhere and reading like me to pass the time? Or is the journey in her novel?
That's a lovely painting and I love that quote, too!
Love the art and that quote is perfect. :)
I could not agree more with that quote!
